Which CBD Oil is Right for Me?

Finding the best CBD

For the last few months you’ve been tossing and turning, struggling to get a decent night's sleep. You’ve tried everything: sleep aids, chamomile tea, and absolutely no blue light at least 2 hours before you go to bed. But nothing’s worked.

Now you’re noticing new aches and pains all throughout your body. Sure, over-the-counter pain relievers have their place, but they’re just not cutting it for you anymore.

So after much research, you’ve decided it’s time for you to try CBD oil.

You have only one question: “What kind of CBD is right for me?”

Well, we’re glad you asked.

You see, there are a few things to consider when choosing a CBD product that best fits your needs. For instance:

  • Your reason for taking CBD in the first place

  • Your lifestyle (physical activities, work, school, diet, and daily routine)

  • Your age

  • Your body weight

  • Your health (conditions, problems, disorders, or disease)

But that’s not all… Even after you take these considerations into account, your next hurdle is making sure you find a high-quality CBD oil that’s not only effective, but also safe to consume.

So let’s take a look at how to choose which CBD oil is right for you.

Different types of CBD products

Types of CBD products

Here’s the thing: everyone responds differently to CBD. And with so many CBD oil products on the market today, consuming CBD is considered a personal experience. So regardless of your health conditions, it's likely that you’ll try one or a few different CBD products.

Here are few of the most popular CBD products on the market today:

CBD oils are perhaps the most popular CBD products on the market, but the others we’ve listed are growing in popularity as well. And they can be highly effective as long as they are formulated safely and accurately by reputable CBD companies.

How do I choose the best CBD for me?

CBD oil right for me

First things first: it’s important to note that CBD is in no way a “cure all”. In fact, CBD is not intended to treat, cure, diagnose, or prevent unwanted symptoms and health problems.

While CBD holds therapeutic value, it should be consumed at the user’s own risk and viewed as an individual plant-derived molecule.

This is all the more reason to seek out high-quality CBD products from reputable companies. But before we dive into where you find these high-quality CBD brands, we first need to learn how to choose the best CBD products on the market today.

Let’s answer a few of the considerations we mentioned earlier…

1. Reasons for taking CBD oil

Why take CBD oil

Even with federal restrictions, studies have shown CBD to be a highly effective anti-inflammatory. And if we know anything about inflammation, it’s that it’s often the root cause of most, if not all, diseases.

And based on anecdotal evidence, CBD is quite effective in addressing multiple unwanted health-related issues, which is quite compelling.

So regardless of where CBD stands with the FDA and FTC, consumers everywhere are still purchasing CBD products. But the issue is that not all CBD is created or formulated the same.

That said, it’s imperative that you do your due diligence and research how each CBD product is formulated.

For example: If you have trouble sleeping, you may find that a CBD oil infused with melatonin may work wonders for you at night.

Or maybe you struggle with anxiety jitters after having a cup of coffee in the morning. Well, as luck would have it, adding a few drops of CBD oil into coffee, or even drinking a specifically CBD infused coffee, could help prevent those horrible coffee jitters.

But for those who are in need of pain relief, reduced anxiety, and better sleep, it’s probably best to stick with a full spectrum CBD product.

But if your work prohibits any trace amount of THC due to drug testing, then your only other options are to use broad-spectrum CBD and or CBD isolate. However, the issues with these types of CBD products is that they may not always be as effective as full spectrum CBD products.

You see, studies show that full spectrum CBD is much more effective and can produce an “entourage effect” –– in which all the phytonutrients of the hemp plant work together and boost their potential therapeutic benefits throughout the body.

Broad spectrum CBD is said to do the same thing, although it doesn’t contain any THC, the cannabinoid responsible for getting its users high when taken in significantly larger quantities. The argument here is that even trace amounts of THC (0.3%) help to increase the effects of CBD when the two are taken together.

As for CBD isolate, studies show that it’s not nearly as effective as utilizing all parts of the hemp plant. Still, some people find CBD isolates to be effective, as some consumers are allergic to certain terpenes. So for that reason, we recommend you try various CBD products to see how your body responds.

  • Full spectrum –– contains all parts of plant including THC (0.3%)

  • Broad spectrum –– contains all parts of plant except for THC

  • CBD isolate –– is 99.9% pure CBD and contains no other nutrients or cannabinoids such as THC

2. Which CBD products fit your lifestyle?

CBD lifestyle

Whether you’re a fitness professional, a retail employee, teacher, stay at home mom, or college student, your lifestyle should be taken into consideration when choosing a CBD product.

Why?

Think of it like this… if you’re surrounded by people all day long, then carrying a bottle of CBD oil can get messy, and it’s not exactly discreet. This is where CBD capsules, CBD gummies, and even CBD infused drinks and snacks could really come in handy.

Not only are they discreet, but they're already pre-dosed, so there’s no measuring on your part.

Now, if you’re super active and go to the gym at least a few times per week, or your job is physically demanding, then you might find that CBD creams and topicals could be more effective for helping your muscles to recover and for relieving unwanted tension.

This doesn’t mean you have to choose one CBD product for your specific lifestyle; it just helps to know which products would better fit your lifestyle when you're out and about or around others.

It’s also important to take your age and body weight into account when choosing a CBD product. The reason for this is that dosing CBD is usually based on the weight of the individual.

So if you're a smaller individual, chances are you won’t need a highly concentrated CBD oil. But if you’re a bigger male or female, you may want to consider a more highly concentrated CBD product so that you're not spending a lot of money in the long run.

And speaking of highly concentrated CBD….

3. Your current health conditions and CBD

CBD for disease

It’s imperative that you consider your current health conditions while determining which CBD oil products are best for you.

If your current health issues require you to be on any prescription medications, then you must take caution when consuming CBD.

If you weren’t aware, CBD is metabolized by the same family of enzymes that metabolizes pharmaceutical drugs. So consuming CBD alongside your prescription medications could affect how quickly or slowly your body processes them.

This means that when you consume CBD, it could cause you to have a lot more medication in your system even if you follow the recommended doses on the label, which in turn could increase unwanted side effects.

That’s not to say that CBD is unsafe to consume; it just means that it’s best for you to use caution when combining CBD and other medications together. Consulting with your doctor allows them to monitor your blood levels and help you determine a healthy and safe dose.

Bioavailability of CBD

CBD bioavailability

Another thing to take into consideration is bioavailability, which basically means how quickly a medication, supplement, or substance takes effect in the body.

Here’s the issue with most CBD products on the market: CBD is consumed as an oil, whereas human blood is water-based. And if we know anything about oil and water, they don’t mix well at all.

Now this doesn’t mean CBD oil isn’t effective. It just means that a lot of the oil gets lost in our metabolism, regardless of whether you hold it under your tongue for more than a minute.

However, there is one way to increase the bioavailability of CBD; it’s called Nanoemulsion. This process allows microscopic CBD particles to easily mix with water. This is often referred to as water soluble CBD oil. So it enters into the body much faster and is much more effective.

But nanoemulsified CBD oil is still relatively new, which means it may be a little hard to find. It may also be a little more expensive. So if you’re on a budget, consuming CO2 extracted CBD oil can be highly effective. Just be sure the product is thoroughly tested.

This leads us to our next topic…

Third party CBD testing

CBD third party testing

We can’t stress this enough: never, ever purchase a CBD product if the company does not have their products thoroughly third party tested.

Third party testing ensures the CBD oils and other hemp-derived products are free from harmful toxins like:

  • Pesticides

  • Herbicides

  • GMOs

  • Mold

  • Heavy metals

  • Solvents

  • And other toxic contaminants

It also ensures the cannabinoid and terpene profiles are accurately labeled on the final product. For example, full spectrum CBD products should always contain less than 0.3% THC.

But that’s not all… Reputable CBD companies that thoroughly test their CBD products increase their credibility, because third party testing is not cheap.

So when you come across a company that has their products tested by an accredited third party, it shows that company is looking out for your best interest and safety.

Now there’s one other thing we need to point out: Some companies publish false lab reports on their website, so as to appear to be reputable. Steer clear from these companies.

The easiest way for you to ensure that your favorite CBD company is publishing accurate and current lab results is by looking at the following signs of fraud:

  • Lab name missing from the lab report

  • Information that’s been whited out

  • No mention of Delta-9 THC

  • Very little information stated on the lab report

  • Appears homemade, unprofessional, or copy and paste (inconsistent font types or handwritten)

  • No date of when testing was done

  • Inconsistent font types

  • Certification number is nowhere to be found

  • No data of GC (Gas Chromatography) or HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)

When you know how to identify a false lab result, then you’ll know which CBD companies to rule out when choosing the right CBD product for you.

Where to buy high-quality CBD oil products

One of the best and easiest places to find top of line, high-quality CBD products is by simply searching online. Reputable companies post their lab results on their website, offer detailed information on all of their products, and provide friendly customer service. So if you have any questions or concerns regarding their hemp-derived CBD products, they should be answered fairly quickly by the company.

Just be sure that you thoroughly research the company for total transparency, purity, and safety. And never purchase from a CBD company if their products do not match the information mentioned throughout this article.

The best kind of CBD for you

Buying CBD

On a side note, we did mention that you may find yourself trying one or a few different CBD products on your CBD journey. And that’s perfectly normal.

But it’s important that you don’t constantly switch from product to product or from company to company. Once you find that ideal CBD company, it’s important that you stick with them. CBD works best when you stay consistent, and if you really want the product to reach its full efficacy, you’ll need to be patient and let the CBD product work its magic over the next several months.
