This business cares only about money. Our puppy was incredibly feeble, and malnourished when we got him, he could barely walk and had food issues like he hadn’t eaten in weeks. Justin the owner was clearly high on marijuana when we came in and said he was having a bad day, I later learned that this is his everyday state. He represented the dog as an Aussie/Lab mix and as he’s now 6 months old he’s undoubtedly a Great Pyrenees (a large, ranch guard dog) not suited to our living situation at all. This has caused immense trauma to us and our dog. When we E-mailed Justin to let him know the situation he immediately resorted to intensely aggressive insults and accusations. He aggressively insulted us, lied to us, contradicted himself over and over and denied everything despite me having all the written proof in paper and e-mails. Justin has shown no integrity or love for dogs. Only anger, depression and greed. I’ve never dealt with this level of unprofessionalism before.

Please heed all of the reviews on this ‘rescue.’ Unfortunately it is not what the owner portrays it to be. Notice the way he responds to the negative reviews - do you really want to work with and put your trust in someone who threatens, harasses, plays the victim, and takes no responsibility? I don’t know the other people who’ve spoken up on here but I see we have some shared experiences. We aren’t making them up. Learn from someone who did it the hard way - don’t fall for his stories, please.

I adopted Rags (formerly known as Marley) almost four years ago and I still recall the exceptional experience. Justin was understanding and kind, not showing the dog to anyone else till I could make the trip from Sonoma County. The process was easy and I left with the balance of his deworming medication and a date to have him neutered ( though I didn’t go back to Placer County and had it done locally). The fees were comparable to most rescues that I had checked out. If I ever decide to adopt another dog I would definitely return to “1love”.

We met Justin on 3-5-19 to see our fur baby Peanut, which is name now is Rusty. Justin was on time with our appointment and very knowledgeable about our adoptee. He works very hard and is so very compassionate about what he does. Our little Rusty is a fantastic kid for us.This was first time going through a pet adoption it took about a hour and was painless for my husband and I and would do it again in a heartbeat.Thank you Justin and a big hug to you and your staff...The Klockers

Recently learned a lot about this “rescue” which is actually a dog flipping business. The owner Justin buys puppies from people and then turns around and sells them as “rescue puppies” for huge adoption fees. He quotes me $600 for a puppy which did NOT include spaying or neutering the puppy, because they don’t do that. I was shocked because he was trying to sell me the puppy, not adopt out the puppy. There is a huge difference. I was talking to my friend about my experience and she said she knows someone that bought a puppy from Justin a year ago and he didn’t include the spay in their “adoption” either and that dog has had 8 puppies. So by not following the basic guidelines of rescue (always fix the animals and if you take puppies form someone you MUST fix the parents so the cycle doesn’t continue)... he is contributing the the person over population by being extremely irresponsible and he’s making a TON of money doing it. Also his mom used to run a business exactly like this and eventually got shut down after being caught. I think the positive reviews are people who are delighted to be able to think they are rescuing designer breed puppies, but he is fooling them and it’s very sad. Sad for all the dogs being used for Justin to make money and sad that he can’t at least fix the dogs he adopts out. This place is a JOKE.

I got my little Josephine from 1 love. She was a year and a half, and had been severely mistreated in her former home. 1 love brought her to the rescue, bathed her, groomed her and through them I was able to find and adopt her. She had become the happiest little dog and brings me joy every day. Nothing but gratitude here for everyone at 1 love who made this possible. Keep on keeping on!!

So i message 1 Love dog rescue on Facebook and after four days of no response I go and message the email they have listed I explain my situation how I have a prescription for a therapy animal I want to fill so Im looking for a medium sized dog money isnt an issue my landlord is on board etc just not really into small dogs but as your website states you specialize in labs etc so it shouldn't be an issue so after about a week of no response I email again "hello did you receive my previous email?" and finally they say very rudely "okay Ill see what I can do" another week goes by no response...than another week no response... I email again say excuse me have you found anything I am again open to adopting anything the only stipulation is I dont really want a small dog all the sudden I finally get a response back "I told you I cant help you we only have small dogs go find a different animal shelter to ask!" I respond back actually you told me nothing thats why Ive emailed three times asking for a response! 1 Love Dog Rescue then emails me back calling me a "b*tch" "saying your just mad because I told you I wouldn't help you" i email back "very concerning you have animals in your care as you dont sound stable" they then send me two or three more emails calling me names harassing me taunting me finally I have to say "leave me alone or im calling the police!". So yea I really would not recommend this place to anyone for animal adoption or placement or anything the person running the place is either a totally insane intellectually disabled person or on drugs which i do believe on his website he states he's in recovery from M3th but judging from his crazy emails i received for asking to adopt a dog he has fallen off the wagon he very much looks that way as well! Really hope hes not abusing his animals as well he did also call a small dog in a wheel chair an "A$$hole" in one of his Facebook videos feel so sad for those animals!

I adopted my dog Max from in 2014. I was having such a hard time dealing with severe depression from work, my health and family life. I was laying in bed one day and came across this rescue. I was scrolling through their page and saw my dog. I knew I had to have him. I called and got all the info about your adoption process and was told they were going to be in Elk Grove. I told my husband how much I wanted him and to my surprise after so many no's before, he said ok. I called back and they promised me they would save him for me until I got there. I drove from Tracy to Elk Grove and as soon as I held him I knew he was going to change my life, and that he did. He has been there to help get me through my health issues, deaths in the family, emotional breakdowns and he never leaves my side. He sleeps with me and goes just about everywhere with me. I don't know what I would do without him. I have never loved or needed an animal as much as I do Max. Some may say I rescued him, but in all reality, he rescued me...THANK YOU 1 Love! When I adopted my dog he had been microchiped, neutered, and received all his shots and deworming from a vet.

While I can't adopt a dog at this time, I donate to this business and receive updates from Social Media like Instagram on how the money is being put to use with all the rescues and adoptions they put out. I support the great work that is done and love seeing all the happy families take home their new fur babies. Definitely when the time comes to get another dog, this will be my first stop! Keep up the great work! And if you are reading this, #adpotdontshop

If I could give zero stars I would! Do NOT buy pets from this rescue. Not only is it super horrible and adopted out two puppies today WITH THE PARVO VIRUS, they are currently fighting for their lives, but Justin is also just very rude and uncooperative as you can see from the other reviews. Horrible business. Don’t adopt here unless you want a dying or sick pup.
