While this airport is great for convenience, the lack of sunshades throughout Southwest airlines terminal is blinding. Whether you fly out early morning or late afternoon the waiting area is drenched i... more

I average around 100 flights a year and Long Beach Airport by far is my absolute favorite airport. TSA lines are ran with excellence. Staff is friendly in all restaurants and gift shops. Drop off to gate averages 5-10min. The environment is very relaxing. Waiting for bags may take up to 15-20min due to number of inbound flights and there only being 2 baggage claims. Yet, 15-20 min is not too long of a wait.

THE GOOD: Great time in Long Beach. Visited Santa Monica, Malibu, Hollywood, Bel-Air and Downtown LA. First time in California and I had a great time. THE BAD: The homelessness in California is the real deal. I couldn’t believe my eyes! However, that didn’t impact my trip, it only enlightened me on a growing problem across our nation.

Feedback:

LGB is a particularly small airport with fair daily rates for parking. Although the ride to Long Beach is usually packed with traffic, we flew out on a Sunday morning and it took us about 30 to 40 min to get there from LA.The airport has one terminal and is segmented meaning... You enter park and walk to the entrance there's a building for ticketing. If you already have your tickets, you walk further down and there's one gentleman, sitting outside, separating TSA Precheck from non TSA Precheck. You enter that building and that is JUST security. You go through security, leave that building and make a right to go to the terminals. Mind you, you are still and will remain on the ground floor. There are a few places to eat including a bar, a taco place, a burger place and some breakfast type place that had a huge line. This (small) building has all of the terminals. Very few areas have the built in outlets underneath the seats. To board the plane, we went up a ramp not through a tunnel. The whole experience was odd when you compare it to LAX, but it was a lot smoother since there were significantly less people.

The whole process in my experience went very smooth. I had no where to stay over the course of 10 hrs and decided to stay here until my departure. It's open 24 hrs, and there are spots for you to rest at. I did not get a chance to visit the food places but in my opinion, they looked like they had a fair amount of options, as it is a smaller airport. I favorite this airport because of the convenience. I prefer coming here again over LAX.

This airport is such an eclectic place and I love it! If you're flying into the LA area, I can't recommend this airport strongly enough. LAX is tremendous, flights are always running late, there's a million people, I could go on and on.Long Beach is teeny tiny and has just two wings, but a surprisingly decent amount of places to grab a bite or drink while you wait. Check-in and bag retrieval from the baggage claims (which are outdoors, FYI) are always a breeze, and rideshares pull right up. Beautiful! It's also typically a bit cheaper to fly into Long beach versus LAX.As southern Arizonans, we flew in here for a trip to Catalina Island. The Catalina Expresa ferry dock in LB is not far, an easy Lyft from the airport. Highly recommend this versus LAX or OC and departing from Dana Point!

Thanks for all you’ve done! The security staff helped me when I had a problem with my boarding pass, and were kind as we worked together. The check-in area’s staff were equally great when I went back to fix the problem. All went quickly. A cheerful and conscientious woman from the cleaning staff responded immediately when I found an unexpected incident that happened before me. Even after her help, I saw her friendliness among guests and couldn’t even get her name she was so efficient at her work. Please know how quality the staff members are. Much gratitude!

Feedback:

Amazing airport and incredibly easy to get in and out of. The amount of restaurants is staggering considering how small the airport is and offers a wide variety to choose from. Parked at the Marriott for cheaper and was shuttled to and from the airport which was incredibly easy considering the few people that travel through. Security was very simple with crazy short lines- took 5-10 min at max. Absolutely love the outside areas which is so good for claustrophobic people. Really easy to get on and off the plane with rear and front access right onto the tarmac on Jetblue. Really good deals from LGB to Reno. The people that worked there were also incredibly nice- probably because they don’t have to work at an airport like LAX. Will never use LAX again. No going back once you get spoiled here.

Truly love this airport! Easy in and out, car rental right across the street, with Southwest Airlines, it’s on time most of the time. And you get to get out both doors, front and back! Enjoy option for food and drink here. It’s newly renovated, expanded, and well kept. Dog friendly which we love! The only thing here is the luggage when it loads out on the carousels, you got to hurry out to get it. It feels a little unsafe like the Burbank airport.

Feedback:

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I pre checked that military members got free bags checked ahead of time and they still tried to charge me for my checked bags. Then I was refused TSA pre check and was threatened with getting sent to the back of the line when I told them that I did not need to be in uniform to obtain that benefit. I’m not even allowed to travel in uniform...looked it up after & as I had said: I did not have to be in uniform. Safe to say I’ll stick to LAX from now on.

I flew out of The Long Beach Airport for the first time this week & was pleasantly surprised. It’s easy to get through security and to your gate. For how small the airport is, there are good food options and plenty of seating. I have always flown in and out of LAX exclusively but will absolutely make LGB my go-to airport in the area from here on out. Really great airport.
