I m here in San Diego. The vibe, live music and the food was great! The group called "Fresh Play" was fabulous...at Cafe 21. My niece had brussels spouts and I had the 3 cheese flat bread was very good. This place is very lively...Gaslamp area is full with bars, cafes, shops and restaurants...visit if you are in town...

Feedback:

Food was ok. Our table was at the top level in a very constricted, suffocating corner without any windows. Our food was always sent to the wrong tables and food that wasn't ours was perpetually brought to our table. Was it because different staff was handling our food and our main server wasn't always available? Too unorganized, so much going on. Not a good spot for more than a party of 4. There was a group of 10 people at our table. Maybe, too many people for one person to handle..who knows. Not going back there anytime soon.

Long line to get a table. We waited 25 minutes to be seated. We were sat on the patio even though it was raining. The canopy had a hole in it which lead to water dripping on our table. When we informed the hostess and asked to be moved, she said "no". She said, "there are no available tables." We then informed our server who made sure we were moved. The portions of food were very small. They are more of an appetizer for one person. If you are unaccustomed to small portions, this is not the place for you. I ordered the banana fosters pancake and my mom ordered the burrito. Both had excellent flavor. The best part of our meal was the coffee. It was absolutely delicious.

Feedback:

Great place! They are farm to table and small plates- so ideal for groups if you like to share and try a bunch of different things on the menu. We sat outside- space isn’t huge but we had a group of 6 and it was perfect. We had 2 rounds of mimosas and maybe 10 dishes and bill was around $150. Staff was great and service was not slow at all. Highly recommend!

Great service and price. Friendly staff and small portions make it really easy to try a large part of the menu. Would highly recommend. Expect about $25 per person

Wow! Absolutely one of my top 5 breakfast places in the US. Tapa style provides for lots of fun options and combinations. The orange juice was out of this world. Each dish was excellent - in both presentation and taste. Tiramisu pancakes, unique French toast, and perfect egg dishes made for a truly wonderful breakfast. Not inexpensive but absolutely worth it! Highly recommend.

I can’t believe it took me so long to find this place. It was amazing!!!! I was drawn in by the beautiful decor and unique ambiance, but I stayed because of the standout menu with plenty of gluten free options. So many of the restaurants in the Gaslamp are just boring copy cats and clones, and by the end of a 5 day work trip I was over it. When I finally did find Cafe 21 it was like a breath of fresh air.For my meal I was feeling adventurous and chose the lamb kofta omelette, which sounded a little unusual. It was so delicious! The feta cheese and red onions balanced the savory lamb incredibly well. I paired this with the potato cake and cured ham. Honestly I’m pretty sure it was the best meal I had in the total time I was in SD. If I’m ever back in town this will be my first stop.

Feedback:

Disappointed in the smaller portions compared to the last time we were here. My lamb omelet was dry and more like peppers and a couple of peices of meat mixed with eggs. My son had the french toast that he liked. The crab cake was too fishy and the taco plater was hardly a"platter" with two small street style tacos. However they did taste good. The coffee was great. Just disappointed in price, over all flavor and wasn't prepared for how small portions were despite being told it was tapas style.

We chose this place in Gaslamp Quarters for our breakfast and brunch for the 2 days we were in San Diego. Food is great, the quantity is small so order more than a dish for yourselves! I eat small portions but was able to comfortably finish the 2 dishes that I ordered. The rasberry sauce and kiwi sauce are delighful! The service is good, on a sunday morning we were able to get a place is 20 mins. The patio seating is a little cramped up. Choose to sit inside if you get a chance.
