My favourite coffee shop in Amsterdam. It's unpretentious. The workers inside didn't try hard to help us which was fine.The area upstairs to hang out is very nice. Everyone has taken a rolling paper, written something on it and stuck it to the walls. The music is often nice and it's not too loud.

we came into Balou in our first trip to Amsterdam in 2016 and we talk about it nonstop back home. The ambiance is perfect, the space is perfect. The notes on papers make it heaven because we all in the end love Balou and Amsterdam the same. Their space brownies never fail, both high and mellow highs. We went back this past month and we were so excited that nothing had changed and that kept us coming in twice a day while we were in Amsterdam. You can tell why they attract more crowds than the coffee shop two doors down. Must see while you’re on your Coffeeshop journey. Just a tip: throw out your own trash and take your mugs to the tray when you get up to go - don’t be those people ✌🏻

Found this place on my last trip to Amsterdam and out of all the coffee shops I went to, this was definitely in my top 2. The 2 guys behind the counter were very friendly and hospitable. I liked how they price their products per €10 instead of per gram. When I was there I got some isolator and it was 1 of the best smokes I have had in a long time. Also I like it when you go upstairs the Walls are covered in signed rizlas from customers throughout the years it's been open which I thought was a nice touch. If you're in Amsterdam and on a coffeeshop tour, I definitely recommend this place.
