I have lost count of the numerous timed this hospital has saved my life!I consider myself a professional patient. I have been to several hospitals in the past 7 years. I have had a hard life. I suffer from Hereditary Spastic Paralysis. It exhibits similar symptoms four Cerebral Palsy but the from a different cause. I walk very unusual and was teased relentlessly growing. My mother had been a single mother who dated outlaw bikers. Our family was broke, which brought on more reasons to be teased and made fun off, such as ill fitted worn out clothes. I suffer from depression, general anxiety, PTSD and polysubstance abuse. I have lost both my parents before I was forty and since my mother's death, I became suicidal and homeless. To say I am basket case would be putting it mildly. I started coming to Huntington Beach Hospital about four years ago. I received treatment for many different reasons, some which included pneumonia, infections and phycology issues. The second floor, which is the phycology department. The staff from that floor is amazing. Over the last three years they have transformed me from a homeless junkie with no reason to live into someone who is clean, functioning and has plans of becoming a productive citizen. The nurses, Doctors and mental health workers genuinely care for the patients and see to it that the patients are cared for and then some. The patients are encouraged to take part in there treatment. The floors and walls are in decent shape. Most other behavioral health department feel like a jail, basically house patients rather than treat them and run people out the door in 3 to 7 days. This ward gives a patient's the time to stabilize in there own time.Dr Kailled is an absolute sweetheart. She actually gets to know her patients and does more than ask someone have you this medicine. If The reply is no the says "well let's try" without any information about what the medicine does or side effect. She also look out for her patients and meets with family members when asked about their loved one. Now, on the med-surge floor and in the E.R. things are much different. Their are two nurses who lack any couth. Remy and Katie acts as if they are better than everyone else, arguing with patients, lying when it makes their jobs easier, uncaring and rude.Katie should find a different job, where she does not have to help others. Katie treats patients like they either do what's she says or will say you uncooperative. Allow to paint a picture. It was raining Christmas Eve and I was promised a bed on the Phyc floor but said I was going to be discharged to the street and she began singing Hallelujah because she did not like me because I was homeless.The emergency room was making hard for me to check. They believed I was using the hospital for a place to stay, so they waited until I went to the rest room, called my name then marked down I left. When I asked if my name was called the nineteen year old receptionist ignored. When I asked why I was still waiting and the only person waiting she said I marked you left. I wrote down my name again. stepped outside for a smoke and she basically did the same thing. Then I asked what was up because I was there to see my doctor who has privileges there another girl stated "there are plenty of other places to see the doctor. Furthermore, she commented " I do not see anything wrong with" I pulled my shirt in order to expose to abscess that were actively draining. WTF.
