Feedback:
The associates at The Transit Store at 12th and Imperial are all very friendly and extremely helpful; every single time that I have done business with them, they have always assisted me in a professional manner. As for individuals who become bellicose because they have to wait in line too long, or because someone makes a mistake when helping them? We are all only human and therefore far from perfect.People don't resist change - they resist being changed and happiness is the result of your decision to be happy. In regards to our bus drivers : Many of our Transit and MTS drivers have already had one career - a few have had two careers and when I say the latter, I mean that one has worked at another job for twenty years or longer and then retired.I have conversed with many drivers and most everyone of them has chosen their job as a transit bus driver because they really like it ; passing the training classes and tests is very difficult, including a CHP test.I have talked to retiired service men, several San Diego aerospace engineers, mechanics; e.g., drivers who have been business managers, worked for large chain stores, resrtaurants,a lawyer, another was a barber, a few had been truck drivers and the list goes on, as many come from all walks of life.I was a substitute school bus driver for The San Diego Unified School District during "the integration period," which was one of our government's most incredibly expensive and also dismal failures in American history ; I believe that I have some sense of the incredible difficulties that a bus driver encounters, as I drove many different classes of school busses, including a transit sized bus ; I transported many types of children and adults too. Sharing our roads with some of THE most inconsiderate automobile drivers in America was often difficult, if not dangerous, as a number of automobile drivers believe that being caught behind a bus or a large truck impedes their way; it's actually one of the safest places to be when you are on a congested freeway, as long as one doesn't 'tailgate.' Driving can be an art except when one is in a hurry and exceeding the speed limit by 10 or 20 mph usually won't get you from point A to point B much faster however, it may get you a speeding ticket or into an accident. [ A seasoned San Diego driver wouldn't last more than a few hours if they lived within a state with the inclement weather conditions similar to the type that we had ; e.g., black ice, sleet, hail, frequent blizzards, roads covered with 3'to5' of snow within half-a-day that had to be "salted" and graded constantly, gale force winds, rain storms that dumped as much as 3" to 4" of rain on the roads within less than a day and 'pea soup fog.' San Diegan's just don't know how to drive because they live in "paradise!" and have perfect weather conditions nearly all year.].In many cases I have had bus drivers ask me, if they needed "to lower the ramp" because I use a walker ; if I have a load of groceries on my walker, it does help me. My ongoing problem is the number of young people and even those who are older, who can't seem to read English and who sit in the 'blue signed' handicapped/senior designated seating areas, even when there are plenty o other seats available. Our transit drivers have YOUR lives in their hands every single day and they are the best that we have, so instead of always complaining, try to be a little respectful to them and our senior citizens too!
