Thank you Healing Hands,I knew there was something different about your school from other massage schools when I saw the tree in your classroom. Its leaves were made of felt cutouts from the silhouettes of the hands of your graduates. Each of these hands have worked on others, and cared for others, and I wanted so badly to have my hands up on your alumni tree. I quickly learned that you attract free spirits, and push them to hone in on there abilities, and you’ve taught me so much about how to focus my own. From the moment I arrived to your laguna location as a prospective student, until the day I left as a graduate, I knew that I was in a safe, loving, accepting place. Every day that I attended class I felt seen, heard, understood, and loved. Before attending your 1000 hour HHP program, I was in a very different place where I worked alone and wanted so badly to help people. I pursued becoming a massage therapist because I wanted to do for others what my own massage therapist had done for me- provide a safe space for my clients where they could be at peace and feel completely cared for.I missed maybe 5 school days out of my entire program because I loved being at school that much. I loved being taught by every teacher at your school; they made me feel like my questions were worthwhile, that my education mattered, and that my time there was important. I enjoyed being in class with my fellow students and traded massage outside of class with as many of them as I could to expand my awareness of all that I had learned alongside them- many of whom I’m still friends with today. The hands on experience in and out of class really helped me develop a deeper understanding of massage, but showed me the depth of healing that can occur on a massage tableI had no idea that an emotional release would happen because of massage. The day that it happened in class, I watched a lot of my fellow students experience deep seated healing and understood just how healing massage can be for not only the physical body but the emotional body as well. That changed everything about the way I saw massage; I saw massage in a new light, as something sacred. My clients have experienced this safe space on my table, and have felt secure enough in my presence and care to have their own emotional releases. You taught me how to hold space for them with objectivity and a sincerely caring yet professional attitude, and that has impacted not only my massage practice but my relationships with my loved ones as well.You taught me more about the human anatomy than I’ve ever known, and showed me how to take care of not only the vessels of my clients, but my own. I now know how to keep my body healthy, happy, and nurtured. When I introduce myself to my prospective clients, they can hear how knowledgeable I am, how confident I am, and how sincerely I want to help them. I thank you Healing Hands for preparing me to hold space for anyone that has been or will ever be on my massage table.I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the healing I experienced at your school. This healing expanded my empathy, my intention, and my abilities to massage clients, friends, and my family as well. I’m so grateful for every teacher, fellow student, and my time in student clinic because these people and experiences all impacted my bodywork path in tremendous ways.
