As a longtime customer of Mr. Nice Guy Bend, I took it in stride when the “bottom tier” onces abruptly jumped from $50 to $75 for the exact same product. On countless occasions I’ve ignored the uppity attitude of Evan Rich, on his delusional power trip as a key-holder, seemingly oblivious that his position is in sales & service. Rather than putting any effort into matching a customer with an appropriate product in their desired price point, he tries to shame an individual while steering them toward more expensive flower or making excuses that the house brand “LOL Edibles” hard candies taste inferior to other brands because “you get what you pay for.” Yesterday, after being inundated with emails, texts & postcards advertising a medical client “appreciation” event giving an additional 25% off 8 ounces, I price shopped all 8 of the Mr. Nice Guy dispensaries within a 200-mile radius of my home by phone to determine whether or not it was worthwhile — the brand’s closest dispensary in Bend is more than 2 hours round trip.I cannot articulate how *unappreciated* I felt when I arrived for my 1st experience at the Bend store as a medical patient only to be told by the two gentlemen working the a.m. shift that they would only honor the promotion on $75+ ounces and had no way to override anything in their system, because they were explicitly told not to do so by their manager. I had my notes from the calls I made to the other Mr. Nice Guy dispensaries & asked why the prices were markedly different, even though they insisted they were adhering to the same price structure and promotions in all 21 stores. I clearly understand, however, that OLCC does not allow the transfer of product between locations and consequently price fluctuations often occur causing the same flower to be priced differently across the same retailer based on inventory supply & demand.The associates were apologetic and asked me to please come back at 1 p.m. when Evan would arrive to help rectify the situation.After leaving the Bend location, I called Chantel at the 7th Street store in Eugene who re-confirmed they were discounting *all* flower. At the bottom tier, the difference in price between the two locations was double — for example the Purple Loco strain, at $60 an ounce totaled $480 in Bend vs. $240 in Eugene — a $20 an ounce variation in price, plus the 25% advertised promotion that the Bend staff refused to honor. Against my better judgment, I ran errands in Bend for over an hour, killing time awaiting Evan to stroll in 30 minutes late for his 1 p.m. shift instead of just going to Eugene.When I returned, I was greeted with Evan’s trademark arrogance and felt nothing but condescending attitude as he slowly tried to educate me on why they don’t discount their “everyday value flower that’s being given away at cost.” He went to a back room for less than than the time it would take to even dial the phone and said he just talked to a budtender in Eugene who denied they’re discounting bottom tier flower...Essentially negating all of my notes with budtenders’ names/dispensary addresses & calling me a liar. He dismissively told me I was being “nasty” & said he has the right to refuse service to anyone so I could just leave, adding I’d be hard pressed to beat their prices anywhere in Bend. Matt & Shay are TOP-NOTCH courteous budtenders whom I will miss seeing on a regular basis but other dispensaries deliver budget bud without bait & switch advertising or blatantly disrespectful management.There is absolutely no reason for a client to feel like they are dealing with a common thug while within the retail cannabis market & it’s precisely because of the unprofessional conduct of people like Evan Rich that the industry still lacks the respect of the general public. Unless you intend to be deceptive in your advertising a simple asterisk with a footnote about price exclusions is a solution that begs to be implemented with some basic staff training. Baited by your “appreciation” I spent hours & a tank of gas to go home empty handed. Merry Christmas 🤦🏼‍♀️
