Situated on the corner of Prinsengracht and Oude Looiersstraat, La Tertulia is one of the city's original coffee shops. It takes its name from the Spanish word which translates as "The Salon".Resembling a botanical greenhouse, the interior is shrouded with plants. Continuing the voyage of discovery, there are large crystals and meteorites, creating a mystical ambience in a calm, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.The coffee shop has three levels. Upstairs is an internal balcony area offering a great view of the premises and the canal beyond.There is seating at the entrance level and, when the weather is warm, a small outside terrace on either side of the building. The 'dispensary' is on the lower ground floor, where you can order tea, coffee, freshly squeezed juice, ice cream milkshakes, snacks and sandwiches. They also do a wicked weed brownie.Run by a mother and daughter combo, this place has a good reputation for their taste in music and for the consistent quality of produce on offer. The cannabis menu is limited to a handful (possibly plus a couple of fingers) of products, but these are of high quality and, be warned!, sometimes of high potency. There are pre-rolled joints for those who can't be bothered to roll their own.Higher indulgences can be satisfied with the waterpipe vaporiser.Whereas nearly every coffee shop closes at 1AM, there are two notable exceptions in the city centre being: La Tertulia which closes at 7PM and Grey Area. one hour later.

Interesting experience. They style this place like a mad scientist/laboratory/pharmacy. This was recommended by a guide on the tour of the city we took. The staff are generally funny and helpful. They went above and beyond to fill our order (getting someone from another shop to run over the product). Caution: However, they really do not tell you enough about the effectiveness of the product (I observed that they are very very very very strong). Please exercise caution when going here and ordering items. Be sure to understand the affects of this substance on you personally. Also, be careful in where you use the product, be in a safe (and hopefully familiar) environment. Stock up on munchies (snacks). When in doubt follow the Canadian motto: start low, and go slow! Dankest of the Dank.This place I stumbled onto when hunting for a WC, desperately needing a toilet. That's not a joke, I had a serious need for one after lunch ;). After relieving myself I got a coffee and a joint. (I had just learned that it's actually suggested and preferred that you get a coffee and a joint, not only a cup of joe.) So that I did, whipped out my laptop and smoked one while getting through a few hours of work. *The Wifi is fast. This place has the chillest vibe. Plants everywhere, seriously good-vibe tunes 🎶 gently playing in the background, and only about 10-15 people hanging out inside. It doesn't feel too pack and it doesn't feel crowded; I'm sitting here on a Tuesday @14:00.Oh, and did I mention they have board games!Drop by this cute corner cafe. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Our favourite coffee shop in Amsterdam and we've tried nearly all of them. Its beautiful outside right on one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam. Its also lovely to sit inside, full of plants and crystals. The staff is always so welcoming and patient, never rush you. Their brownies are actually real and al their products are of quality.

It was my absolute favourite coffee shop in Amsterdam. If you love a chill relaxing environment to smoke in I highly recommend la tertulia, the staff and selection of Cannabis are wonderful. If you like a more club like atmosphere I don’t suggest coming here, this place is more like hanging out with your friends in a respectful chill manner. Again I absolutely loved this place and it’s amazing if you wanna grab a coffee sit down and get really high and relax.

Definitely a very chill, relaxed coffeeshop. Don’t come expecting the “usual” vibe/loud atmosphere. Perfect to slowly enjoy your weed, or try the excellent house made edibles. If your mom partakes, this is the place to take her! Awesome little sandwiches and juices/shakes as well. Great spot to people watch or just read a book. Will absolutely come back.

Cozy, casual and happy. Right on the canal and near plenty of public transit, La Tertulia is a perfectly situated coffee shop playing great music with a small but well used layout with plenty of natural light. They offer Tosti sandwiches, GREAT coffee, juices, sodas and milkshakes. The cannabis is of good quality and fairly well priced for being in the centre of Amsterdam. This will definitely be my choice for trips into town as I live on the edge of the city.

KO! Went to this place as a group of four. Two of us had cakes, one had a waffle and the other just smoked. I don't know if it was because we did not eat a massive lunch before eating the cake/waffle or something like that; but three of us became immobile. Our friend who ate the waffle became stuck on the one of their chairs because we was to high to move. The staff were helpful in his state, with advise. He managed to move 20 minutes after they shut, so I feel the staff were accommodating. Overall the experience of the shop was good, with some funky decor. If you are going to do edibles make sure you don't eat to much or on a empty stomach!
