Feedback:
I do not recommend seeking care here unless you are okay with being condescended to and treated as though you are 'mentally ill' and incapable of making decisions on your own. Perhaps some mental illnesses for some vets are managed well here....but unfortunately I was specifically told that 'younger' combat veterans with PTSD and TBI are not "suited" for the kind of care they provide here. Essentially...if you want to be medicated until your brain is too numb to learn to heal on its own this is the place for you! The therapy side of their care is not so promising. When you walk into a therapist's office, their first question upon meeting you should never be "how much have you had to drink this morning, sir?" (when you haven't had a drink in over a year)......and they should probably also avoid telling you "you don't seem to have anything wrong with you, I don't understand why you're here" weeks after you were nearly admitted for being terrified of your own thoughts. If you are a combat veteran with PTSD post 2001....do NOT seek care here. They are not equipped to help you with your unique needs. Do yourself a favor and contact the Worcester Vet Center....they talk to you like you're a human being and not a walking pharmaceutical dumpster they can force into inpatient "for your own good" at the drop of a hat. Also consider contacting Cannacare Docs in Worcester...they will help qualifying veterans secure a medical cannabis card at a discounted rate. The VA won't tell you that's an option, but they legally cannot prevent you from utilizing it in addition to their mandated services. You do have other options for getting yourself healthy! Good luck and God Bless!
