They do the absolute minimum so that they can get you right back at the door. Went in twice and was told I just had the cold/flu. Then I went to an actual urgent care center where they took x-rays of my chest and swabbed for viruses and found a couple of bacterial infections and early pneumonia which the Cal Poly Health Center did NO checks for. Very disappointed. If left untreated those can do some serious damage.

Came in because I had been feeling dizzy and had a headache for a couple weeks. First they told me that I had anxiety (which I don’t). Then I went back and they told me I should make an appointment with a neurologist because I could have a brain tumor. Went to the actual doctor and turns out I was just super anemic. Don’t know how they didn’t figure out something as simple as anemia.

This review is meant directly for the front desk lady. I’ve been multiple times and the doctors, nurses and phlebotomists are all awesome. However, the front desk lady is very rude. I came in with a fever feeling very tired and super weak and dizzy (classic poly plague) and parked in pt. parking where it says you need to ask the front desk for a permit. I went in, checked in, and asked her for one and she asked “do you have a regular poly permit?” And I replied “no” (I usually walk to school) and she said “well you can’t park there then, you can use the metered parking right behind the pt parking.” I saw while walking in the meters were already full and I was like “they are full, where else can I park? I feel too sick to walk a long way.” And she said “well move your car somewhere else or get a ticket.” So I left and moved my car off campus and called the health center to see if I should recheck-in upon returning. She answered and said “really? You left without letting us know?” And I told her “you told me I had to move my car or get a ticket.” And she was like “I’m cancelling your appt. check in again when you come back.” And hung up. Such a lack of compassion. I found out from my roommates later on there was actually more metered parking close by at the children’s center, and she didn’t even try to help me out in my situation by suggesting other close by metered parking. It looks like other people have had bad experiences with her, I don’t know how she’s still there.

This place is garbage. I came into here the next day after getting clipped at bike night and had major arm and wrist pain. I was not even given a doctor, I was seen by a PA. She diagnosed me with a muscle strain in my forearm and said I would be out a max of 6 weeks. I ended up believing it was a sprained wrist after bracing it for 6 weeks and was still in pain. Well now after 4 months of pain I got an MRI and it turns out I have a fractured scaphoid, something very common after a hard fall. So now I'm out 5 months, thanks health center for taking my money :)

Feedback:

Just had an absolutely horrible experience with Paul Brylewski. He was condescending and rude and did not offer any help for the issue I came in for, instead laughed at my alternative medicine and insisted on probing me as to why I would even consider that as an option. It seemed as if he was trying to make me feel “dumb” for believing in anything other than western medicine. Not a safe environment and I do not recommend this experience to anyone.

Feedback:

Government at it's worst. I arrived early because I need to visit the doctor before class. The opening hours are stated on the building but employees didn't start showing up until 15 minutes after opening. Doors did not open until 30 minutes after the stated time. In any other job, if employees consistently arrived late, they would be fired. Truly horrible experience.

Feedback:

Honestly amazing that Cal Poly students pay a fee for the terrible service they receive. Front desk staff is extremely rude and pushy. Hours of operation are short, not open on the weekends, and there is never a wait less than 2 hours. Can't schedule appointments for xrays, so they make you wait about 4 hours. Most visits just end up with a referral to a doctor elsewhere.

Feedback:

The medical staff are very professional and helpful; but the main help desk woman is an absolute nightmare. She's very rude and makes students feel like it's their fault that they're sick while simultaneously being the nicest person to her coworkers. It's mind-boggling how she hasn't changed her attitude in the 4 years I've been utilizing health center services. She is efficient at her job but her bedside manner is what I would expect in the penal system and she absolutely should not work in an environment where students are coming to find relief from their ailments.
