I have been a kitten Foster for many years for many different places and I was very impressed with the genuine care that OC animal care has for these little guys. The staff have a genuine love and concern for the animals under their care and trying to do everything they can for them. It's been my pleasure to be a part of their team In helping take care of these little guys and helping them find their Forever Family.

First off, the new facility is very nice- a big and beautiful place located in a much more appropriate area as opposed to the last facility. Usually, the place is kept fairly clean, but I have seen it very dirty as well. (I assume it depends on the number of volunteers/staff available at the time.) However, you might begin to understand, as I did, how they came afford such a big new facility when you find out how much their normal day-to-day prices are for pet adoption or redemption. Short answer- they are high, like extremely high. (They do have reduced price/free adoption days, but you need to get there at the crack of dawn to stand a chance of getting the animal that you want.) They doI do want to warn you though- snotty attitudes run quite rampant at this shelter, and never from the animals. Unfortunately, I’ve come to expect some type of unpleasant and completely unwarranted attitude from at least half, if not more, of my human interactions at this shelter.

Feedback:

Spayed our two kittens before two months old, which is a common practice for this shelter despite the fact that this can cause serious health conditions. Charged me to get their blood work done and never gave me the results. Charged me for vaccinations they were too young for and were never administered. Previous to this, started adoption process on another kitten only to tell me it had already been adopted. The staff here is completely uncoordinated and will tell you conflicting information. They treat the animals here like they don’t matter, and treat people looking to adopt even worse. Terrible communication, no respect for people looking to adopt, and an unqualified medical staff. “Care” should not be in the name of this business

I brought in a young cat my neighbor left behind. Brought her in and was told she would not be killed and adopted out. Six days later, I come home from work and to my horror I see the cat waiting for me by the door (I fed her before I found a shelter). She was spayed and her ear was cut. Called the shelter and they said that they do the procedures and get them back on the street because they are overwhelmed. If I would have know this, I would have brought her elsewhere. Luckily, one of my friends decided to rescue her. Today she is in a happy home.

Had OC Animal Care try to claim my dogs weren't licensed and that I owed $160 each within 15 days... My dogs are licensed and fixed, so I pulled out their licenses and nothing matched. The person ID for billing was wrong and the mailing address stated "unknown owner". Even my dogs license ID numbers were wrong. I called and got it corrected, but not pleased my dogs info was filed wrong. Thankfully I had my records and checked everything. It was their canvassing program that tried falsely reporting me.

I had the most awful experience at this shelter. We adopted a kitten on the 7th or put a deposit which in my eyes is adopting. I was told the kitty would not be their property until the 9 th .I got a call on the 10th saying she was being neutered. My father passed that day so did not check messages. When I did the following day I went to get him. I was told himself he was adopted that day. I wouldnot be getting my 50deposit back. A coutisy call would be appropriate. Your rules need to be changed.I will be dealing with my daughter. Really 1 call I obviously wanted him. I am so unhappy and will be sharing my terrible experience

This is a very new shelter, very clean too.The big dogs are able to go outside, the little ones who are sheltered in the middle row, can't.A lot of pitbulls, husky's and chihuahua's found a place there. There is a lot of rotation in the animals, as stray dogs get picked up by their owners.Staff is very friendly and patient. They work with volunteers, who walk the dogs and assist in every day live.Been there twice now and surprised how many cages were empty. So people do adopt and pick their lost fur baby up.I would definitely recommend this shelter, if you like to adopt a new fur friend.

I came to the shelter to inquiry about a cat listed in their lost pets. There was a black and white tuxedo cat that looked like a stray cat I was feeding. Fortunately it was not him. A representative explained the cat was found and caught not in the same area where I live, but at the other side of the city. I was grateful for him to look up his information and break my fears. I left reassured. (The cat I was looking for came back on his own.)I took a chance to visit their dog section... I have to admit it was a sad sight. Imagine, a dimly lit room, prison cells, smell of urine/ poop and sound of dogs barking. That is what I saw. I just hope those dogs get adopted soon; it is terrible in there.

We adopted a new member of the family! The shelter staff were all wonderful, friendly and dedicated. It was a free adoption event yesterday, so there place was PACKED but the staff never missed a beat! Everyone we spoke with was clearly dedicated to the animals, and just so happy to see them get homes. We will certainly be back, as I would love to support this shelter as much as possible! We adopted Loretta who is now Lola, and she is an absolute delight 🐾

I had to go into hospital, and they kept my dog, gave her shots she didn't need, fined me for ''abandoning '' her, though they took her to this ''skelter, and took off her leash. they didn't bring her crate, her toys, her food anything. My friend was able to loan me the money to get her back, and my dog was ill for 12 days because they overdosed her onshots. So my servic3e dog almost got euthaniz3d, as she was 0vwr 11 then. Don't get. an animal from these people, they. are dangerous. Shevwas there for 4 days, and I had to come up with 242.87 to get her out. They were trying toconvince me that since she'd been inthere so long (2days at the time) that I should just give up my servi e dog, as I was in a wheelchair, and it would be for the best. They knew I d9dn't have th4 money to get her out, and d9dn't care. ÷Please, don't use these folks for anything. find a shelter that will kisten. This one does not.
