This place is so overpriced for what you get. Of course you will lose some significant weight (10-12lbs) in one week but you can replicate it at home for about $300 max! The rooms are very old and run down ( San Diego location) and I would say it’s a little dirty. Think “motel 6”. Yes, it’s a very calming environment, very spiritual, and you get a week off from the world but it’s too bad it’s not affordable for the average person. Even if I had the $2800 to go back ( plus usually airfare) I wouldn’t.

Great alternative approach to health improvement. In the 80s a colleague told me how after a few weeks stay there and continuing wheat grass intake at home for a while, his hair slowly started going back to it's natural color after having been grey. That sounded like powerful medicine to me! I tried it for high level wellness and found myself detoxifying from injuries that had occurred decades ago. I was really surprised by it all. I can say that my energy level was much improved. I have recommended them quite often and thought it was time to give Optimum Health Institute a great review.

I have completed 11 different cleansing programs, in Africa, Australia, Thailand, to name a few.. and OHI is by far the best to date.I do a deep cleanse once a year and have now come back to OHI 4 times and won't waste my time going anywhere else.As soon as I walk through the gates, I breathe a sigh of relief because I know that I am about to get dramatic, sustainable results in a very short time.The raw vegan detox diet does its magic, and day by day my sugar cravings dissolve.Sure, the weight loss is nice but my blood pressure returns to normal levels, my headaches disappear, my digestion and elimination normalize... everything reboots.I keep a daily journal and log my progress as I want quantifiable results and boy, I get them.My doctor couldn't believe my labs when I returned from my last OHI trip. She was so amazed with what I achieved without drugs, she has booked herself in for a visit!My last OHI visit, I took a pair of my trophy jeans with me, that I haven't been able to get into for 12 years and at the end of my stay, I got into them, no problem!The staff are great and really care about your comfort. The classes are fabulous. If I know the science behind why this works then it makes me want to continue my new habits when I return home. I arrive, all alone and by the end of the week, I know just about everyone. I keep in touch with quite a few of my OHI friends throughout the year.This comprehensive program truly covers EVERYTHING - Mind, Body, Spirit and compared to other programs that I've done, the prices are reasonable too. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired and are ready to commit to a program that really works on multiple levels, you won't be disappointed with the outcome.Is it easy? - NOPE.Is it worth it? - TOTALLY!Don't waste your time and money going elsewhere as this is where the magic happens!

I came to Optimum Health Institute of San Diego after careful research and a pretty traumatic car accident to try and get my health back. I deeply enjoyed my three week stay here. I had everyday access to staff experts and professionals and I gained a deeper appreciation of the health practices that would serve me well throughout my life. All the way from the CEO Bob Mees, to Dan, Sophia, Wendy, Peg, and many others including their on-staff Sr. Chef, Ken Door. Their volunteers staff like Debbie and Alison also made the experience wonderful.As a side benefit I lost 28 pounds and haven't felt better since I was 20 years old, three decades ago. It's not easy, but worth it. I'm well back on the road to recovery in weeks and months rather than the 1.5 to 2 years my doctors back Utah warned me about with the damage my body had sustained in the head-on collision. I also met dozens of the best people I've come across, all dealing directly with health opportunities of their own.

I have been going to the institute every 6 months for a week stay. Every experience has been an amazing revelation about health, cleansing my body. Being lovingly positive in mind body spirit. No one would do something 20 times if it was uncomfortable....trust me on that

I would say that since I had a one week stay and then went back a few years later to do a work- live situation for 1 month... this place is the real DEAL. Not posh at all. It is about learning, breathing, drinking as much wheatgrass as you possibly can. I did at least 16 oz a day. For some 1 oz gets them sick... but as you watch them throughout the week they can drink more and more. I have met people from all over the world that come to cleanse their bodies on a yearly retreat there. I learned so much about preparation of raw foods, purchased a excalibur dehydrator - which I have used religiously over the years. While walking on the property you will here at some point the Classical music coming from one of the green houses. There the Mexicans are tending with the Sunflower spouts in the front row. Be sure to grab a bag ~ they are said to resonate at a higher frequency. They give you abundant amount of energy.. Think Green, Wear green T shirts or just know that wheatgrass stains.. so if you are in to tie-dye perhaps you'll love the effect. Best thing is when you leave you look about 10 years younger! I am excited to return soon!

I have never been in an environment that allowed such an uplifting sense of joy, peace, gratitude, love and friendship. The staff is amazing and the program is healing on many levels. I arrived with health challenges and left with all my challenges turned into opportunities as they melted away. The program works and it allowed me to see why my body when given the right nutrition becomes alkaline and thrives in a state of optimum health. I would recommend this program to those who truly want to experience what it's like to heal from the inside out.

My three-week stay at Optimum Health Institute San Diego as a guest, and then three months as a missionary, seem to have improved my health opportunity of early Parkinson’s symptoms. But it was getting to take the Focus class a total of five times that really helped me transform my life. I heard about the Optimum Health Institute (OHI) from a friend of my sister’s. I was very interested in trying out a completely different approach to my health opportunity, and flew from my home in Honolulu to OHI San Diego. I immediately loved the live raw vegan food. While the mind and spirit classes were in alignment with work I’d been doing, the body classes were new, and I felt three weeks of eating and learning to prepare raw meals was just not enough for me. I applied for the three-month missionary program and was accepted. I had the opportunity to talk with guests, particularly first timers, answer their various dietary questions and help them navigate that important initial week of the program. So many of them asked me about my own personal experience with the detoxification and adhering to a new diet, and I was happy to share my testimony. I met fantastic people and made some wonderful new friends. With all the powerful things I learned, it was the Focus class that’s made the most difference for me. It teaches you to focus on your goal and define your intention, and then stick with it. That discipline has made such a difference in all areas of my life.
