The Wellness Lounge is hands down the best body work place I've ever found. I began seeing Dr. April when she first opened The Wellness Lounge in the summer of 2011. At that time, it was a tiny office that she ran completely on her own with her itty bitty dog Layla. The ambiance was thoroughly relaxing, and she expertly accommodated every client with efficiency, patience, and compassion even though she was working solo (then eventually with the help of Bekkah, her awesome receptionist/assistant)! Not to mention she's one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet--they both are!I visited Dr. April several times during these early months--I am a former gymnast turned slumped-over-a-desk grad student with many joint and muscle injuries that cause severe pain and limited motion. I had seen several chiropractors in the past with mixed results. During my first visit to Dr. April I realized I'd found "the one." Her combination of massage and chiropractics (Chiroprassage) is pure genius (and should be the standard!). By loosening the muscles first with massage (and heat packs and aromatherapy!) the adjustments are like butta! They are not jarring or uncomfortable in any way, which had not been my experience in the past. And she never makes you feel like your appointment is up. After your adjustment/massage she will have to stand and walk around and if you feel that anything else needs attention she will put you back on the table and work it out. Her knowledge and intuition about how to heal the human body is unmatched in my experience.Dr. April has improved my quality of life. Not only has she eased my suffering during times of injury, she has worked my body back toward healthfulness and balance. After a handful of visits I noticed that my usually ice-cold hands and feet were warm and continue to be warm. She actually improved my terrible circulation! She has also taken the time to suggest improvements to my diet and daily routine for overall wellness. She is a truly gifted health care provider/healer.Well, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I discovered that in the past several months, while I've been busy traveling and and working in Northern California, Dr. April added several new players to her team! I called to make an appointment last week and Dr. April was already booked up but I was told that Kara was available. She is an acupuncturist who began at The Wellness Lounge last winter and she is working on becoming a massage therapist and was therefore offering extremely discounted rates. Well, that girl knows what she's doing! I went in with a terrible pinch in my neck that prevented me from turning my head and was causing severe pain, and when I left I had regained nearly all range of motion and the pain was practically gone. Kara, like Dr. April, is a natural healer. She was incredibly sweet, calm, and easy to talk to. She told me to communicate what I was feeling and let her know at any time if I wanted more or less pressure or if I wanted her to focus on any specific areas. But she was so good I didn't need to guide her at all. I'm looking forward to trying acupuncture for the first time during a future visit with Kara!Though I haven't yet met any of the other recent additions to The Wellness Lounge I am looking forward to it. There is another chiropractor, Dr. Brian, and several massage therapists, a nutritionist, and a yoga instructor!You really can't beat this place. The people, the atmosphere, and the total devotion to your well-being are superb. The Wellness Lounge is truly a gem.
