Wow, after reading so many wonderful reviews, we had high hopes. The good: chicken oysters and schmaltz fries, the cool vibe and great service. The not so good: the fried chicken. We both found it nee... more
Feedback:
Terrible, just terrible!! I have never heard of a restaurant more overly hyped than this place. The chicken here at The Crack Shack is over cooked, under seasoned and absurdly over priced with a batter so thick and flavorless its more like a deep fried plaster. Ive had gas station chicken 10 times better and way cheaper than this place. Im all for supporting local businesses but i wouldn't waste anymore money at this particular one!
Feedback:
Wow. I notoriously (if I were cool enough to warrant notoriety) hate fried chicken but this place was phenomenal. My love of Top Chef and a generally skeptical demeanor meant high expectations for Blais’ casual locale...did not disappoint! Ordered the Coop Deville which was sooo good, schmaltz fries and border slaw. The fried chicken was perfect which especially for white meat is saying something, but honestly the biggest surprise was the slaw. Holy f—super flavorful, all ingredients appropriately ripe, crazy refreshing but filling. We were in San Diego for a sadly brief time but loved this place so much we constantly debated returning vs. exploring new sites, which if you knew us (again, why can’t I be notorious?!) is a true testament!A 5 means: I’d crave this every 1-2 months and there weren’t any negatives (food, drinks, ambience or service).
Feedback:
Honestly, I'm so upset I didn't get pictures of everything we ordered. I will definitely be back! This place is Fire !! Absolutely some of the best fried chicken in the SoCal area. We had gotten the Firebird Chicken Sandwhich and 6 piece fired chicken. Everything was crispy and juicy. And the collection of sauces they had on the side for dipping were a perfect compliment to everything we ordered. Most defiantly recommended!

Wow, after reading so many wonderful reviews, we had high hopes. The good: chicken oysters and schmaltz fries, the cool vibe and great service. The not so good: the fried chicken. We both found it needing more seasoning and honestly pretty bland. The crust was crunchy and the chicken was moist but I was looking for a salt shaker. I assume the sandwiches are better because of the extra ingredients, but the chicken should be the star. I had Memphis fried chicken months ago that puts this to shame.
Feedback:
Beautiful place! Been there twice and had the same treatment as before. They are consistently accommodating and helpful. They have excellent service, great food, and beautiful decor. This place was so beautiful and it's very romantic. It can accommodate anything from a romantic dinner to a business meeting or a night out with a big group. Highly recommended!
Feedback:
On Thursday I placed an online order for pick. The two girls working the counter were super friendly to non-Asian customers. I stood there for almost 5 min before I got one of them to acknowledge that I was there. I suggest that if you do not want to serve an Asians customers that you let them know in advance that they are not welcome at your establishment.
Feedback:
The chicken used to be very large pieces which compensated for the high price but over the past six months they progressively gotten smaller. Now they are about a third the size that they were and not a good value anymore. The grilled chicken breast is so tiny it’s ridiculous. At 5.50 each it’s a total rip off. Won’t be eating here anymore.
Feedback:
This place is seriously delicious - it's good, comfort food done fast and pretty affordably. In my mind, the only possible drawback would be that the portion sizes are too large and the food a bit too greasy - but you can just split the food with family and friends, after all!

Holy goodness amazing!! I'll be back, many times. The sandwiches are delicious and the open seating is nice in an outdoor patio where you can take your kids so they can hang out. They have a fantastic cocktail list and a lot of really good beers on tap. I have the deviled eggs and a brioche chicken sandwich. What I really like is all the different sauce selections that you can have.
Feedback:
We loved this place. The chicken is legit incredible. And the sandwiches have great flavors; I had one with am over easy egg. Fries are also fantastic - fresh! There non-alcoholic beverage offerings are good (no coke products). I enjoyed a cream soda. The uncovered patio seating was well lit at night and not drowned in loud with music. There are TVs on mute around the venue. Parking can be tough in Little Italy evenings and weekends. Just plan to feed a meter, pay for valet, or ride share over there.
