Give points based on how much you spend , but at anytime at their own choice they can say points are down or that all your points are gone , did this to me twice after I bought a quarter with them twice , I'd go back expecting a good amount of points and they were mysteriously gone. Very rude and uncaring feels insincere and doesn't care about customers.
