Feedback:

Very disgusted that when our family attempted many times to have a meeting and to find out how our Dad was doing no one responded. We were told we would have a meeting; they acknowledged our request for one and they would get back to us to schedule it. We asked for progress updates. The last two weeks Dad looked pretty bad. We told the nursing staff. I told Cloyd and others Dad looks like he is declining. We are concerned. He asked me, “declining in what way?... “ “what do you mean?” I said he looks dehydrated. And he responded by saying, that every time he checks on him, Dad is fine. I expressed my concern about Dad’s cough, dry mouth, color and poor alertness. All along whenever I asked Cloyd assured us he was doing fine. On Sunday night when I mentioned to Cloyd that Dad looked worse and was coughing again, Cloyd said he was going to give Dad his breathing treatments. Mom and I left after 5:30 p.m. (approx. 5:40 p.m.) Whittier Hills called us at 7:20 p.m. and told us the ambulance was coming to take Dad to the hospital. Dad went to the hospital was admitted into critical care. When Dad was admitted the hospital staff said he was admitted with a huge open bed sore that was not properly treated and he was severely dehydrated and had sever pneumonia. Dad passed away at approx. 4:07 a.m. the next day. He was not being treated properly at Whittier Hills. We tried to express our disappoint with the staff at Whittier Hills. They told us that they had told us when Dad was admitted that we were suppose to contact the Doctor directly to speak to Dr. Song. (Neither mom or I remembered them telling us this in March when Dad was admitted.). The staff was very quick to be incredibly defensive with all of their answers and responses. “We only schedule wuarterly appointments...” although I had already requested to talk to Social Services. They only cared about being right and quick to answer to cover themselves. They were justifying Dad’s severe health decline. Our family is sick thinking that we trusted them in taking care of our Dad. We were giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were hydrating my Dad and preventing bed sores. They let a huge bed sore open up and neglected to treat it according to the critical care staff at the hospital. Dad was too severely sick and dehydrated when he entered the critical care hospital. Our family wanted to know how did this decline of my Dad happen? Why didn’t they address it sooner? Why were they so defensive when I was trying to get his health status and wanted updates and improvement. We had originally filled out a survey complimenting the staff and submitted it to Ensign on April 26th. Right after they received the survey ironically Dad’s condition went downhill. And now he’s gone. The food was terrible there. Dad hated it and was not eating. They were actually trying to justify his poor condition and death. An awful and horrible experience. They wanted their Yelp review... so they got it! They should care more about their patients than their yelp reviews. My poor Mom feels so guilty that she thought she put Dad in a good place to care for him before he was released to come back home. But then found out about his bed sore and medical neglect at Whittier Hills. It was weird when Cloyd asked us when Dad was going to be released. ??!! We were waiting for them to give us updates and make a plan to have him released. Very poor care and poor communication. So frustrating. My mom is just sick about it. My Dad was not being properly hydrated or medically treated properly. And they justified their services and were very defensive when we were voicing our concerns. Very sad we trusted their services, they went downhill and neglected to provide proper care to Dad.
