I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Alana's Coffee Roasters on our interview date. With how compact Los Angeles and its neighborhood pockets are, it’s not surprising that it’s a task to find a coffeeshop that has outdoor seating that consists of more than a few small bistro tables. Well, Westsiders are in luck because Alana’s Coffee Roasters in Mar Vista goes above and beyond to offer their customers everything they could possibly need to keep them wanting to come back. First off, they have parking! I know, such a small detail that Angelenos tend to not really care about when looking for a go-to place. Second, their staff, including owners Eric Stogsdill and Erin Ward, are so incredibly welcoming that you automatically feel like you’re a part of the shop’s little community even if you haven’t been before. Third, Alana’s utilizes its space to perfection from small tables in the storefront entrance to cushioned indoor wall seating to a spacious outdoor patio complete with long picnic style tables, a mini stage, and a quirky camper as the star attraction. Its clear personal touch that is put into every aspect of the shop ultimately showcases its goal to provide a comfortable atmosphere for anyone the walks in. I mean, what more could you want?Ah ha! You thought I was going to forget about their coffee menu didn’t ya? Alana’s roasts on site so you are always getting the freshest roast, and they make it a point to roast beans that are in season from a variety of different farming areas around the world. Choose from a classic espresso infused latte or Cold Brew, or maybe walk on the adventurous side and opt for one of their specialty drinks like the Pirates Chai, the Big Time! (a drip coffee with grass-fed butter and coconut oil), or my absolute favorite – the Chipotle Mocha! And if for some reason you still can’t figure out what to order, the baristas will go out of their way to make you’re a custom beverage for you to enjoy. Pair your beverage of choice with a delicious muffin, crepe roll, croissant or cookie for the optimum experience as you find a place to perch yourself for a catch-up with friends, a group study sesh, or maybe even to meet someone new.

I liked the patio and how it is spacious with furniture you would find in your backyard. I also think it is cool there is a trailer used for an office. The customer service needs a little improving because not all of the employees are pleasant and courteous. Other than that I would recommend this coffee shop to others. The coffee itself is worth the recomendation.
Feedback:
This is one of the cutest cafes in LA. The food and drinks are delicious. I also adore the ambience and the cozy feel it has to it. I personally love the upstairs. It's a great place to chill with a friend or read a book/get some work done. The service was quick too. My only wish is that it would stay open later. I'm a bit of night owl so I prefer to going to cafes later in the evening.

Good ambience. Wasn’t a huge fan of my pirate’s chai which just tastes like milk. They also messed up both mine and my friend’s orders..Okay I came back to give it another shot and got a regular latte this time. It’s still just overly milky. You can barely taste the espresso. I do really love the outdoor patio so I may come back for a pastry but I will never order another beverage from this place.
Feedback:
Great coffee and a large assortment of treats. Super friendly/chill staff. It's easy to forget that everything is vegan -- as it should be. Timeless holds its own against any great coffee shop without needing to preface it with a "vegan" label.Alana's Coffee Roasters.

This place is perfect to come when you have a super large ice cream craving or if you just want to see how much ice cream your body can hold! Flavors galore, lots of seating which makes it perfect for large groups, and generous portions! Super generous.Alana's Coffee Roasters.

Hit the jackpot with Alana's! Only a five minute stroll from our airbnb and the house roasted coffee is as good as I've tried in Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne, London or anywhere for that matter. The baked goods look great and I can vouch for the generously almonded, almond croissant. Great service and good vibes in the store to boot! Shoutout to the friendly local (Caroline) for the recommendations too!

If you’re a Westside native or just a visitor for the weekend, Alana’s is a must. Their ample outdoor and indoor seating lends to coffee chats and freelance workspaces alike. You’ll immediately feel welcomed by their staff, who go out of their way to chat you up and make your morning a little less painful. Highly highly recommend the everything croissants- but beware they often run out by 9:00! Cherry on top- they’re dog friendly :) Special shoutout to Ivan and Saad for their continuous high energy and service.

I ordered a bag of coffee off their website on 9/24. My credit card was charged on 9/25. On 10/2 I called them ask about shipping status. A guy said "Eric" is in charge of shipping and he is doing roasting, my order probably sent out already and he will double check with Eric will call me back later. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. 10/3 I called again and no one pick up. Emailed them on 10/3 NO RESPONSE. 10/4 Called again same guy pick up the phone said "Eric said he probably sent out my order already but he is out right now will double check with him and call me back within one hour ." THEY NEVER CALLED BACK AGAIN. I called back again after 5 hours. The guy told me "Eric is not back yet but your order probably will be send out tomorrow." I ask to cancel it. He said "Eric will cancel it and give your refund tomorrow and will send you an email." NEVER GOT THE EMIAL.Today is 10/14 I didn't get either my refund or coffee beans!Horrible service! HOW HARD IS SHIPPING A BAG OF COFFEE BEANS? If you can not handle online orders do not do it!
Feedback:
Wow, I haven’t had a good shot of espresso in a while and this place satisfied. I don’t understand some of these coffee snobs in the reviews lol??!! Please give them a try, it’s worth the shot. From the lovely environment, to the wonderful cashier and barista, to the location and smell of the place, it doesn’t get better than this. Also, don’t forget to try their pumpkin pie latte before it goes out of season. That’s insanely good too! I found a new coffee spot yay!
