tl;dr: Now rude staff and tourist ripoffManagement should think about firing that one long haired guy with the tattooed arms. I used to love this place and make sure I go there every time I visit Amsterdam. But since the last time I've been here, a lot has changed. The one thing so admirable in this coffeeshop was, that it felt like a warm livingroom amongst all the tourist ripoff industry. But then the following happened: First evening we went to the counter, decided upon which product we wanted to buy, I asked for a coffee, the budtender said the coffee machine was not in use (?), so I said I was good without a drink. Then he told me, that there's a rule, that if you wanna sit in, you have to buy a beverage. I asked since when they had that rule and he straight up lied into my face and said "since forever" then threatened to kick us out if we didn't like the rule. I bought an Iced tea then. Next day there was a staff member, wo didn't care at all If we bought something to drink (so much for the rule). The day after, the first budtender was there again. This time, we decided upon weed AND beverage - my friend paid 21€. Then I wanted to buy my drink separately and he dared asking me: "What are you buying to smoke?". Turns out he made up another rule, which said that everybody sitting in has to buy something to consume. We returned the thing's we bought and left. Good way to conduct business. Used to be my favorite, but that guy is effectively ruining it. Avoid, especially as a tourist.
