Having eaten / ordered from here since its inception, I can truly say what a joy it is to have ANY late-night food in Santa Barbara, much less stuff that isn't crazy expensive nor the typical fast-food "blah-ness". The not-so-easy fact Munchiez' originally petite but well thought-out menu has expanded quite enormously as well as pleasantly, so swiftly, lies in the secret of this locale. What feels like a short time (for most of what I can only classify as: "upper-echelon but quick-fare eateries"), is actually in this little droplet of paradise, quite a long time -- as most small restaurants do not, or cannot remain open in this competitive an environment beyond those first gruelling 3-5 years. Munchiez, now having recently passed the former portion of that mark, makes them stand out (to this humble foodie) as certainly impressive. More often than not, I see too many "hotspots" folding and shuttering due to this constantly flourishing city's ever-changing appetite (literally and figuratively) or to the well-known SB "hefty-rent-syndrome". The Munchiez crew has certainly grown in/to unique popularity, often taking over other places' old business and customers, therein finding themselves constantly having to adapt to the newfound extra work, and certainly gaining, along the way, a fair contingent of ''tried and true" regulars.I've found they've accomplished this feat very well, with but a few 'minor growing pains' and a single location migration...luckily an expansion. Today, 99% of the time, they're keeping at a rapid but comfortable pace, consistently in-stride, and with ever-open arms. These long-made persistent observations of success I attribute to the veracity, intrepidness, and delicious cooking skills of the owner, Carlos, and his senior management.I need to include the fact the guys (and sometimes gals) have kept up with this classy college-town's ravenous appetite, delivering to nearly wherever locally, with swift 'order-to-door times' INCLUDING staying open FAR later than 99% of the eateries here, is startlingly impressive. Admittedly, this glowing review comes with a caveat, the owner is a close friend of mine; but I assure you, he'd be too stubborn and prideful to commission fake reviews or ever let me spout half-truths at the risk of tarnishing what I see to be a blossoming reputation. One comprised of his own hard-earned efforts and dedication, propelling him forward, in an attempt at making a name inside an area most people only dream of merely VISITING!I'm certain his restaurant's "archetypal stock" has, and will continue to, hopefully, "go up" due to CA's semi-recent legalization of Marijuana... I mean, what's in a name, eh?! Uncertain, even myself to this day, of the once potentially predictive, now totally assured irony...What am I implying? Well, I'm pretty sure, we ALL know: 9:00pm - 03:00am should certainly be viewed as the de-facto, yet unofficial, "weed witching hours". Qui a faim?! Bon Appetit & Bonne Nuit Central Coast~
