Wow! Go there now! Soon as South Redondo, Torrance & PV find out how good this place is, you won't be able to get in. -- My 1st time at a Momma D's... What a wonderful surprise. High quality, family style Italian cuisine cooked perfectly & a nice variety of wines by glass or bottle $$. Fresh made bread & garlic olive oil on the table greated us. We asked our waiter (Anthony) about the Copalla Cab & Rodney Strong Pinot Noir... He brought us nice sized sample of each... Off to a great start. -- So, we tried the fried ravioli w/marinara sauce appetizer... Crisp & light ravioli served on fresh made sauce topped w/ fresh shaved parmi. Perfectly sized for two. Yum. -- So, we tried the pesto broccoli fusilli w/ olive oil pesto... Terrific. Simple fresh pasta w/ light classic olive oil pesto (vs creamy pesto or pink sauce) & perfectly cooked al dente broccoli florets topped w/ fresh grated parmi. Happy.-- So, we ordered a pizza (thin crust) to go, and then tried the baked eggplant. Wow! This place keeps getting better... The breaded eggplant was perfectly baked in mini casserole, again in fresh marinara sauce & generously sized for one person. I'm in heaven. -- Oops, a drop of marinara landed on my shirt... As I began to wipe it off, our waiter Anthony quickly appeared, offered some club soda to help prevent a stain & was back in a jiffy w/ a clean white napkin & the club soda... Can they do nothing wrong. -- So, we asked about dessert, coffee & dessert wines. Alas, their coffee machine had earlier broken down and the dessert/ dessert wine options were limited. So, we had the chocolate cake... a nice sized slice of moist, dark choc cake w/ dark choc drizzle. I would have loved some light sorbet or a small spumoni after such a large meal... but the choc cake was nice. -- The manager graciously introduced himself & inquired about the meal & service. I was still so surprisingly pleased with the quality & flavors of the fare that I truly had nothing negative to say. -- Overall, the staff (hostess, expediter, busser, waiters) & manager were all extremely friendly, attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable and obviously experienced. Great food served in a casual, family friendly, somewhat intimate atmosphere.We'll definitely put Momma D's on our list of places to visit again. PS What about the pizza? Well, when we got home, we opened the box to find a perfectly cooked flat crust Italian (NY) style pie... the crust & the cheese around the edges had just that perfect crispness that only comes from a hot 500°+ oven. So, stuffed as I was, I had to take a bite or two... I was not disappointed.If you haven't already, give this place a try... You won't be disappointed either. Great quality & value for the price. DM
