Had lived here for 3 years until I moved out-of-state. One of the best places to live in midtown-Detroit! Phenomenal amenities give you access to a perfect-sized gym 24hrs/day and the scenic rooftop has one of the best views in the city. The pool is always a great spot to hang out and meet people, but yet never out of control. Everyone in the building is friendly. The apartments are nice sized, and having gated parking is a huge plus. Not to mention the close walks to all sporting events, and several restaurants nearby.
Feedback:
My unit is facing the Woodward Ave and I can hear the cars, ambulances, and motorcycles going by all night long. I can barely get any sleep at nights to the point that it is starting to affect my health and my performance in school. Also, as if the noise from the street wasn't disturbing enough, the A/C unit for the entire fifth floor is right above my unit and it makes an extremely loud humming noise all day long. I've complained to the management office about both noises, but there is nothing they can do about either of them. There is something seriously wrong with how this building has been built and there are no insulators in between the walls or windows whatsoever. The only reason that I am giving this review 2 out 5 and not just 1 is because some of the building staff members are nice and polite, otherwise my experience with this building so far has been nothing but disappointing. I will try again to change my unit at the end of my contract and if I can find a better unit and my experience changes for better or worse I will update this review.

My fiancé and I should have taken these reviews to heart before living here. We’ve generally always have had good experience with renting apartments in the past. However, we feel a very certain personality should live here and want people to know about this place before choosing this complex. This is the first public post I have ever written, and hope I don’t have to write another one any time soon. First, it is an incredibly young crowd of people who live here; there are frequent college-esque parties that take place at the pool on the weekends with many non-residents who sneak in without badge access. Occasionally, there are apartment parties that occur too. It harkens back my days in undergrad dorms. Then, the construct of the building is VERY cheaply done. Our upstairs neighbor stomps and paces above us, keeping us up until 2-3am bc of how loud it is. We have also had a repair request in for several weeks because our patio door doesn’t seal all the way, and we still have yet to have maintenance fix this. Finally, we have had a package lost, despite being directly accepted by the staff here, but they are not liable based on a contract you sign before living here. Unless you wish to subscribe to their package lockers (an extra cost on top of the ridiculously high rental price), you’re SOL. The concierge staff is hit or miss. Some are incredibly helpful, but for the most part, they are young college kids who have indifferent attitude towards helping the residents. Some may say you should contact the management. You would be correct. And my fiancé and I both have contacted Rae Lynn multiple times with cordial responses, BUT zero changes made. Hence, why I am writing this post. Avoid living here if you can. Unfortunately, we are stuck here for our year lease, and we wish we weren’t. Seriously, take this review to heart. Unless you like hanging out with bros and hearing everything your neighbors are doing (including their morning alarms); then this place is for you!
Feedback:
Horrible place and not worth it. This is anything but luxury, if you have your bedroom attached to the hallway be prepared to have sleepless nights. The walls are so thin, you are able to hear the conversations from your neighbor and whatever they are doing in the bedroom. The most obnoxious people are living here and management refuse to acknowledge the problem. I would not recommend this place to anyone!
Feedback:
I have called this place several times only to be put on hold with waiting music for over 15 minutes with no one, ever answering. So then I decide to physically go to the place, and they would not even allow me to set an appointment. They told I would just have to keep calling. Well if this is any indication of the support staff and overall experience of living here, then this is probably a place that I do not want to live! Now I know why you have such low reviews!Sincerely,A disappointed Detroiter and PhD
Feedback:
I have lived at The Scott for a year now. The concierge service goes above and beyond to ensure my stay here has been comfortable. Brian and Elise have even watered my plants while I have been away. Tyler has gone so far to jump my car when it had a dead battery. But what really made me feel at home is when I had a food poisoning incident, Elise and Tyler came to my aid with medication. The service I have had here, is not comparable to anything else I have experienced. This apartment complex has amazing amenities (heated pool, hot tub, barbecues, 24-hr gym etc.), but it is the staff here that really make this place a great choice!
Feedback:
CAN’T WAIT TO MOVE OUT!When considering The Scott as our choice when we decided to move downtown in July of 2016, we were sold on “luxury apartment and amenities, incredible services and “Experience the Exceptional”. We were excited to be one of the first residents of The Scott, however that excitement quickly faded leading up to moving in as the “exceptional” was discovered to be incredibly false. We couldn’t get anyone to respond to us until four days before move in date and we were not allowed to see our apartment prior. It was so bizarre, we initially thought we had been scammed. Once settled into the apartment we began to understand. Context to follow & pictures included. Move-In: They were not ready for us to move in, but instead of saying so and allowing for time to finish painting, etc. they rushed the completion job, so we moved into tape still on walls, messy paint and construction throughout. It was also very evident rather quickly that Broder & Sachse are quite comfortable with using the cheapest construction materials possible. Numerous construction issues upon move in: Noise – general construction as well as contractors/workers having loud conversations in the hallway, general disrespect that people were living here. This went on for MONTHS. Fire alarms sound all the time (this continues through today and has resulted in the fire alarm being ignored. We were told by DFD on site on 11.13.2018 to raise this issue with management. We did and as of this afternoon, we are again, ignored. It has become a “cry wolf” situation that we truly hope will not result in tragedy. (If you are a resident reading this, safety above all! Evacuate when you hear the alarm!!) Construction/Environment Issues: It is LOUD. You can hear the elevator, people talking in the hallway from 15 apartments down, neighbors alarm clocks, TV, conversations, etc. The noise level is best compared to a cheap hotel/Continual yellow stain comes through the white shower walls/Cheap white paint, even a magic eraser leaves marks on the cheaply painted walls/Lighting: there is one rather dim ceiling light at entrance, one track lighting in kitchen and one dim ceiling light in bedroom – that’s it, no lighting in living room, no lighting in half of bedroom Tenant Issues: Running, stomping up and down the hall/Allowing large dogs to run up and down the hall, unleashed/Weekly loud parties with 30-50 people in one apartment and/or in the common areas taking up all the space and leaving it trashed. Human vomit, dog urine & feces in the common areas, not cleaned up – HEALTH HAZARD/Doors that should be secured are continuously left open at street level, non-residents following residents into the building - DO NOT expect a secure building. Management/Staff Issues: Simply stated, zero empathy. Management likes to place blame and deflect responsibility, with types of “this is what you signed up for” responses whenever issues are raised. I see there are responses added to reviews here which indicate to contact Michelle, we did, last year around this same time, we had one meeting and was told she would follow up and keep in contact with us, we never heard from her again. Additional highlights: Prepare to not only pay exorbitantly for rent but also to be able to have packages delivered ($20/mth), storage locker ($10/mth), parking ($125/mth) etc. Nothing is included, the approach seems to be let’s nickel and dime our “valued” residents. If you don’t mind the facade of a “luxury apartment building” that more closely resembles a dirty, cheap dormitory, give it a try! However, there are many many options downtown that are SO much better and less if only slightly more per month than the ridiculous price you will pay here. We don’t regret moving downtown, we regret choosing The Scott. Hopefully our experience will lead you away from this building and to one that is truly exceptional.
Feedback:
The Scott has been a dream! Excellent common areas and great space in all the rooms. The bathroom is HUGE with a gorgeous shower and large vanity, plus the walk in closet fits everything. Walk in the door late at night and get greeted by a smile from Elise! Great staff all the way around! From supplied coffee to perfect amenities for any time of the day, you CANNOT go wrong, live here or you will regret it. Perfect location too, go Scott go.
Feedback:
I have been a tenant here for a little over six months. I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone moving to downtown Detroit. Not only is the building amazing but so are the staff and residents. I recently lost a very valuable item and it was almost instantly returned to me thanks to the help of another resident and the wonderful concierge Elyse.
Feedback:
The Scott goes above and beyond! From the apartments themselves to the common areas, everything is so clean and inviting. Spacious bathrooms and closets, tons of storage in kitchens, amenities on amenities and the friendliest service - especially concierge Elise! I couldn't imagine a friendlier or more personable person and I know I can go to her for anything. On top of it all (the pool, hot tub, gym, rec area)... coffee lovers: get ready. 24 hour coffee on The Scott - vanilla, chocolate, espresso... you name it. Either way, this is the place to be.
