We were quite impressed with the amount of time the store owner spent with us helping compare and choose a mattress. They are quite knowledgeable and have a good range in styles and prices and they are more cost effective than some other luxury brands. The bed we chose was not on the big sale but they gave us the best discount they could an threw in pillows and a cover. It would have been better to get free delivery though. The delivery guys were quick competent and nice guys though. We got the mattress sooner than originally quoted too. We highly recommend this store!!

Loved this place. The first time I went in they let me try all the beds within my price range and a few that weren’t. No pressure what so ever. I left to try some other stores and quickly came back and ordered my bed (Chattam and Wells). They worked with me on delivery times and were so nice to work with. I can honestly say this is the best mattress store in town.

We had a great experience buying our new bed from Essential Sleep! I had been into the store about a year ago with my sister in law to kill some time and they were very nice and welcoming during that visit even though we weren’t actually shopping. When it came time for my husband and I to get a new mattress I knew we had to go back! Chip answered all of our questions very thoroughly and gave us plenty of time to try out different options. If you’re in the market for a new bed I highly recommend you stop in!

We have done business with Chip and Diane a few times. Each experience is better than the last. With most manufacturers and dealers, once one is finished trying to understand what the materials are and how to find good quality, one would prefer to lay down in bed and never wake up again. Chip and Diane are honest, helpful, very well informed and they carry products that seem to reflect craftsmanship worth buying. Old school.

We made the trip up to San Rafael this past week to visit Essential Sleep Boutique on 4th Street in San Rafael. We had been in the market for a new mattress. We wanted a bed that was a for real more natural bed than the mass produced beds you find at a big box store or pseudo "natural" mattress store. Having a science background I know that there are significant amounts of harmful off gassing of fire retardants and petroleum products used in the manufacture of most if not all traditional and "pseudo natural" mattresses. We weren't sure if we were in the market for natural memory foam, coil, or latex. After some research we found one store that had all these options under one roof so it was well worth the trip up to San Rafael to get an idea of all our options. We are so glad we did. We settled on a Bliss 10 inch latex mattress with two different toppers. A 3" plush for me and a 3" firm for her. It is perfect for us because the mattress firmness or plushness can be customized for each side of the bed and no crazy chemicals were used in its making. This has been very useful as my wife likes to sleep on a much firmer bed and I prefer a much softer plusher feel. We both got what we wanted and we were able to try literally all mattress types side by side without driving all over the bay area. This was a distinct advantage as trying to remember the feel of one bed versus another after a drive just was not working for us. Here we could immediately feel the difference and do a valid comparison. The owner, Diane, was very knowledgeable and did not try to "hard-sell". She helped my wife and I find a bed that matched our needs and our price point. The store has a great atmosphere, excellent selection and no pressure sales. I would highly recommend to anyone in the Bay Area considering a new mattress for themselves and/or their family to visit this San Rafael store. As an added bonus when done you can eat at Valenti Co Italian restaurant 5 minutes away which is fabulously good.
