Great food- but way too noisy!! Dined here on a Friday night at 7 pm, restaurant was full and you are hit with a wall of sound as soon as you enter - even had to yell name at host for reservation. Almost made me not want to stay and I've heard they've made some kind of improvements from when it first opened, so I can't imagine how bad that was! Once we were seated, service was great, friendly and helpful. Started with the octopus and artichoke appetizer - delicious. I read complaints that it was too rich - but who doesn't want a lot of flavor?!??! I had the branzino - it was amazing. Husband had the linguine w/crab - also excellent. Only reason restaurant doesn't get a 5 is b/c of noise level, otherwise I highly recommend.

Went last Sat. Night. Food was good to very good. I asked the waiter about the Una salmon on the the menu, specifically if it was farm raised. He emphatically told me it wasn’t. When I got home I Googled - it is farm-raised in Iceland. I sent an email through the restaurant website informing them of this and the need to educate the servers so they do not mislead customers. My email was never acknowledged, which is why I am posting here. All in all, a nice evening, good food and drinks. So happy they left the outside facade of the original art deco building pretty much intact.

Called on Thursday to make sure the bar and oysters were available on Friday (Valentines Day) also asked what time they would be opening, I was told yes and 430. We got there early, knew it would be busy. They opened late and oysters were only available for prefix menu. We were definitely disappointed, went the extra mile and called the day before. Connor the bartender was rude when we said something about opening late and more rude when we asked about the oysters. If I were him ( I have 30+ years in the restaurant business) I would have mentioned it to the manager or tried to do something to make us feel acknowledged not wrong. Girl bartender working the well was also rude. The only saving quality was the bartender who looks like Freddy Mercury 5 stars!! Nice and personable!!

This was a wonderful dinning experience. As a sister restaurant to Herb and Wood in little italy( which I also enjoy) The food is similar but a way more intimate and relaxing vibe. Our server was Robby if I remember correctly, and we would request him again if possible as he was passionate about the food, and patient to explain everything in detail to us while making us feel completely attended to in every way. We commented on how we felt bad going through so much silverware, and our server said they have someone awesome who takes care of that in the back specifically and brought him out so we could thank him! It was very sweet to be able to acknowledge part of the staff that is rarely seen or known about. =)We got a lot of food... LOL, and we took many of Robby's recommendations which were excellent. I regret not snapping a few photos as everything was exquisite, but I was too busy enjoying the meal to remember !! We will be back for sure!

Funnn dining down in Encinitas. Enjoyed numerous Mediterranean mediations and modern cuisine in an elegant, inviting, ambient environment. Don't neglect!

EVENING STAR ! I checked out this brand new restaurant this afternoon. It is so refreshing that an actual restaurant has opened in coastal Encinitas and not just another bar which serves food. It certainly looks very inviting inside. I was greeted at the hostess desk by charming Nadia who explained they didn't actually open until 5.30pm but I was free to have a look around and take some photos to show my wife. Nadia also handed me a menu sheet. I was also fortunate to meet and have an informative chat with restaurant GM Ryan Callahan. Wood-fired anything is probably our favorite food so I can't wait to bring my wife here for dinner. And then I got even more fortunate when the Executive Chef / Partner Sara Harris came over to say hi to me. If the talented and committed staff I met here are anything to go by then this new classy eatery is going to go off like skyrockets. There is no name on the building yet but the excellent wood-fired food will do the talking I'm sure !

**UPDATE. This place is still great. They just opened for Brunch today. Mmmmmm, it was delicious. Pineapple upside down cinnamon roll and the loco moco were the two dishes I tried. And both are fabulous. Cannot wait to come back and try more. This place is great. It’s in the perfect location. The building is amazing. Just walking by and being able to look in makes you want to go inside to see what is happening. Everything from the service, to food, and drinks are top notch. They did such a good job with everything.

Malarkys new north county restaurant. Beautiful space in the heart of Encinitas. We Ordered a bunch of items- octopus, hamachi crudo, shrimp cocktail, crab avocado toast, branzino, pizza and a pasta. And a few cocktails- I got their dirty martini, my fiancé got one of their cocktails- he said it was too sweet and all ice. For the food- the apps were all good: I enjoyed the crab avocado toast, the shrimp cocktail was different- deconstructed. My branzino was amazing- really small for a branzino though. Good flavors though. The pizza was good too and so was the pasta. Lots of food!

One of the best place to go out and enjoy the fresh food 🥘. Great location with valet parking in the back and lots of free street parking. Bathroom super clean and nice design all the restaurants it’s open with windows you can enjoy as you watch your food being prepared . Very professional status is very kind and understanding they will help you find the best dish for you .lots of beverage selections, The dessert was so hard to choose from that we had to order one of each and it’s totally worth it.Finally we have a great and convenient place to go and enjoy family and friend quality restaurant Brian malarkey you did it again.Recommended to reserved ahead of time.

Simply browsed in, allured by the beautiful picture windows and lighting. Sat at bar with my boyfriend. We had house suggested cocktails and the lobster last night. Service was on point. Food was absolutely delicious. It was so much we couldn’t even finish. I ate the leftover lobster today, and damn.... I’m a foodie, and a diver. That was the best lobster I have ever had.fresh, tender, shells covered in smokey flavor. I can hardly wait to go back and have full dining experience.
