Feedback:
Of all hospitals, PRMC has, by far, the longest wait in the emergency room. We arrived, by ambulance, around 6:30 pm and it wasn’t until 24 hours later that a permanent room was assigned to me. I sustained bed sores from that terribly uncomfortable mattress. Others weren’t so lucky. My roommate who arrived minutes after me was still waiting for a room. Your motto of keeping patients comfortable while at PRMC does not apply. I understand the reason you take charge of my medication once in the hospital, but your doctor went radically off-base with my meds. This left me in a precarious position in that I wasn’t receiving all of my meds. They injected far less insulin that I normally have, resulting in my blood surgar lever being excessive. They reduced my Gabapentine from 600mg, 4X’s daily, to 1-300 mg daily. I had neuropathy pain all the time; I couldn’t sleep and my feet and hands ached all day. Your doctor refused to change it citing that it damaged my kidneys. This was well known to my Primary Care Physician (PCP) but he felt that the benefits outweighed of this drug outweighed the side effects. I began bringing in my own drugs, until your administrator sat down with us and we entered into an agreement that you increase the dose to 3 – 300mg tabs, daily in exchange that I forgo from bringing in my own meds. And this is from someone who is vocal. Imagine this happening to someone who is docile? Crazy. Apart from that, your nursing staff is outstanding, save from one or two. Even your doctors on staff have good bedside manners. Again, your release is much like your admission – long awaiting. We knew that we were being release the following date. The sign on the wall says to be prepared to leave by 11am. We left at 7 PM. In the military we have a slogan, “Hurry up and wait.” May I suggest you adopt this slogan because, buddy, you folks are slow. mx
