Feedback:

We rescue adult dogs (three, at present), who unfortunately have health issues. We've been going to a particular vet for 37 years. We knew he was expensive but we trusted him. After our bichon-maltese mix had oxalate bladder stone surgery at a surgical center, we wanted to explore holistic approaches, nutrition, etc., although my vet said nothing would help keep the stones from returning. But we knew we had to try. I had heard wonderful things about Royal Treatment. I cannot recommend them highly enough: the care is personal and comprehensive. From the receptionist to the techs to the wonderful Dr. VonderHaar ("Dr. V"). We have Kasper on some supplements, bone broth which flushes him out, and regular veterinary care. We took our yorkie Pearl (rescued at age 7, after being a puppy mill breeder) there when she started having serious GI issues. This is when we decided to change all of our dogs over to Royal Treatment Center. My vet had limited suggestions, and I wanted holistic input. In addition to the regular care, we have added supplements, food change to a "novel" protein, and a regular antibiotic that even my regular vet didn't mention. See? COMPREHENSIVE care. She is improving slowly - it's a difficult inflammation to treat. Dr. V and I chat via email all the time, which has been fantastic, as minor changes can have a huge impact on Pearl's condition. Now, here's the kicker: B12 shots are part of the protocol. My regular vet was charging me $102.50 per shot (a series of 13 shots): $44 for the shot, $58.50 for the office visit. Royal charges me $12/shot! That's it! They weigh her because her weight is important. Or I could learn to do it myself, which would be even cheaper. 20 tablets of prednisone from my regular vet: $35. 60 tablets from Dr. V: $18!!!! I know there have been some negative reviews on price, but labs, x-rays are cheaper here than the rip-off vet I've been going to for 37 years. We will wean her off the prednisone to a natural form eventually - something the traditional vet doesn't know anything about. Price wouldn't matter if I didn't believe my dogs were getting the best care possible. This is a wonderful collaborative experience, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. A great resource in the Chicago area.
