...made an appointment to view a car. Arrived at lot to discover that the car isn't available for viewing. They said they'll call me when the car is available - the car is still being advertised but they have yet to call me to see the car. They charge $1,000 for the "dealership fee" - that's on top of a $11,000 vehicle... - go somewhere else for sure.

I notice a lot of negative reviews, however I didn’t have that experience. Before I came here I made sure to have a pre-approval with my confirmation number and I looked at their online inventory and did a car fax on the car I was interested in. Zak was my salesperson and gave good customer service and didn’t pressure me. I was in and out within 4-5hrs. I’ve had my car for a year, and I’ve had no issues. I highly suggest to do your homework when car shopping and don’t rush. If you don’t know about cars please take a mechanic, and save yourself the headache.

WARNING! DO NOT BUY ANY CARS FROM CALIFORNIA MOTORS DIRECT! THEY SELL JUNK CARS!!! We purchased a BMW 328i from this place. It had the service engine light on when we test drove it but we were promised by Carlos (manager) that it would be fixed. After purchase we brought it back for them for repair. Carlos informed us that their mechanic was unable to fix the car and they would need to send it to the BMW specialist. After calling pretty much every day for 2 months questioning what was going on with our car we were finally told it was ready to be picked up. When we went to pick it up the service engine light was STILL on! Desperate to get the car back from them, we took the it home where it has been sitting, undriveable. We were unable to afford taking it to our mechanic for a second opinion until recently and the mechanic informed us that the cars computer needed to be replaced and rewired which will cost over $7000! The mechanic also told us that the car is basically a death trap if driven and that the previous owner had been messing around with the computer wiring so no mechanic is going to touch the car. We have been calling leavimg messages for carlos to address this issue but of course he isnt returning any of our calls. Needless to say we are having to sue California Cars Direct to recover our huge loss from these thieves.

When I got to the dealer I went to the car. The sales guy didn’t know anything about the car. I got several odd answers to my questions. First the quote they gave me was too low by the time I had signed papers for twenty minutes, I had to pay a 500 deposit and come back the next day because they kept saying it takes the credit union forever to pay. Went back on Saturday and was told the car was not ready to sell and that it may take thirty days. Ugh. Long story less long it took five days to get delivery of the car I was told it would be detailed and that the day I picked it up and had to wait. They brought a dirty car to me. A week after I had to replace the wheels and a week after that the convertible top broke. They won’t help they are very unprofessional I would never recommend them

DON'T SHOP HERE. Bought a car last week and was told it would take 2 days to register and I would have the car by then. Here we are almost two weeks later and I still don't have my car. Apparently it won't pass smog and nobody knows why and they aren't doing everything possible to get it done fast. Ive been renting a car and can't rent much longer and had to cancel a trip thanks to this dealership. Do not shop here unless you want to get screwed over.

Drove an hour away to see 3 vehicles at what seem a great price. All 3 vehicles were listed on their website and I even called ahead of time to make sure they were available and was told yes on the phone. I drive an hour to the dealership. Turns out ALL THREE were under repairs and not for sale. The first vehicle had the key stuck in the ignition. The 2nd vehicle needed a new transmission. The 3rd vehicle had some other repairs. Again, this is with all 3 listed for sale on their website and with me calling even before driving out. This is unacceptable for any dealership especially since this was just not 1 vehicle but all 3 that I called and ask and drove an hour away for. I personally would avoid this dealership since it was not 1 but 3 vehicles I was lied about over their phone and website.

I was first to call on a car listed. I was told it needed to be smogged before it was for sale. I even went in person to leave a cash deposit but was told I couldn't until it had already passed, but would be called as soon as it did to pay and pick up. 2 days of calling, keep being told its not in yet, cant get a hold of the original sales guy. THEY SOLD IT AND NEVER CALLED ME

Be careful, the total price increased approximately 6k from the sticker, which is to be expected taxes, licenses etc., problem I could not get a breakdown of the detailed cost after several attempts I just gave up and found my car somewhere else where it was very easy to get the details, by the way the additional fees and taxes did not end up at 6k. Also no one is wearing mask during COVID19

Here is a little story from May 5th 2020 that could help you understand that the GREAT PEOPLE AT CALIFORNIA MOTORS DIRECT are so genuine and caring when they lie to your face! On this same day, I went looking for a Nissan Altima for less than 10k on CarGurus and Cars.com. I find the car! It's a great price and I better hurry! Because it is a flash sale! How lucky I am! They lowered the advertised Nissan Altima by almost 1k!I call the dealership at around 10:45-ish and a gentleman by the name of Jorge picks up. I ask about the car and he said that it was indeed in the dealership and it had to be inspected before it was sold. We come up with an agreement to have an appointment at 3:30.However, I was in a hurry and decided to show up a bit early and arrived at the dealership at 2:30-ish. I ask for a man named Jorge and another gentleman tells me he is in his office and we couldn't which we couldn't go into. At that moment I realized that something was up. I mean why wouldn't I be allowed into a man's office that had no other customers while he was talking on the phone? Then, 5 minutes pass and Jorge comes out and tells me, "Sorry but the car in which you set an appointment for at 11 o'clock in the morning, 2 hours after our doors even opened was sold 5 minutes before you walked into the dealership.". The next line was even better! As this gentleman suggested to look at other cars in the lot!For people that skipped to the end of this review here is a short summary: FIND A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP! THAT "GREAT DEAL" IS JUST A FRONT TO HAVE YOU ENTER THE STORE AND TAKE A LOOK AT THEIR OVERPRICED CARS! FOR GOODNESS SAKE THESE GENTLEMEN HAVE A 2.6 STAR REVIEW ON CARFAX BY 32 UNLUCKY PEOPLE LIKE ME! SOCIAL DISTANCE YOURSELF AWAY FROM THESE MEN!(Below are some screenshots taken on 5/3/2020, nothing is altered. These are currently up on Cars.com, CarGurus, Carfax, and their own website)

I have contacted the dealership several times to discuss purchasing a Passat. First attempt, spoke with a salesman (Elijah) on Friday afternoon who was in the middle of closing a deal. He took all my information and sent me a text to confirm contact information. Stated he'd finish his deal take a couple pictures, confirm the out the door price. 4 hours later, no contact. I respond to his text with "Please don't forget about me." I received no response. Saturday rolls around, I call back and explain my experience the day before. The gentleman apologizes and says he'll get a different salesman on the phone. Well after a 20 minute hold, I hang up and call back. I speak with yet another person who confirms that car is still available. They say they will need to get with their manager to confirm what the out the door price would be. It is now Thursday and I've never received a call back. I'll take my money and go elsewhere.Side note as caution, the majority of their cars have experienced significant damage via accident. They also have $900 dealer handling. If you are comparing their prices and thinking they are below market, add $900 to the advertised price and no you are getting a damaged vehicle. Those items translate to not a good deal.
