It was an okay time. $5 per person isn't too bad, but there isn't much to do if you're just walking around. This is a great place to come if you're an artist and want to draw or paint. more

Wow!!! Pleasantly surprised it's so Beautiful better then what I've expected. We can spend the whole day here such a week kept garden. This place would make a beautiful wedding destination. Our favorite garden is the rose garden & the big water fountain is such a zen. The guy at the front gate selling admission tickets was so nice to us he gave students discount for the girls. He suggested some spot that we should go first to see it was our first time there & so glad we came worth the 1 hour drive. We will definitely make another trip

Special place, Garden was designed for the water treatment facility, the lake there is therefore always clean. It is in honoring water that the spirit of the garden exists. There are several kinds of Japanese gardens there. The philosophy of Japanese art is strongly influenced by Japan being an island. If you pay attention you can see this theme throughout. The water fowl who live there welcome us into there territory. The tea house is lovely. The vistas are deep and rich whether fall/winter or flowering spring /summer. What a hidden peaceful gem! Remember, it's closed Fridays and Saturdays. The water purified there circulates also to nearby Lake Balboa.

First time here place was really nice honestly cant complain about that. Accidentally stepped out off the path while having a photoshoot and I didn't know it was a huge deal about it had the security guard run so fast to yell at me which I apologized for stepping off the path and continued getting pictures taken with my fiance and I look out and the guy was literally watching us the whole time he hoverd over us I felt harrassed it felt very hostile my photographer even told him to not hover so close to us and the guard said once your off the path your always off the path finally we said we were going to complain so he coverd his badge and face and walked away. Honestly seen two couples walk off the path more than us and a child which he obviously didnt care about since he was so focused on ruining our moment. I honestly don't think I'll go again worst 5$ I've spent.

Absolute beauty with form and function. Such a great place to take a walk and meditate or simply appreciate the manicured nature. It is very amazing that they put the reclaimed water to use in such a unique way. Only $5??? I'll be visiting again soon!

Lived in the valley for 10 years but never visited the Japanese garden. The website shows that they are closed on Fri and Sat, so we planned for a visit on Sun, it was almost 3 when we arrived (last entry at 3:15p, close at 4p) we didn't want to be out in the hot sun as we have two babies in our group. It was such a nice treat, the staff were friendly and the garden was so tranquil, almost completely removed from the hustle and bustle that's happening surrounding it. Definitely plenty of photo ops.Certain areas are peaceful but when we were closer to the perimeter we could hear loud music from public park next door. The bridges, lake, ponds and small waterfalls really add a nice touch to the garden, giving is a zen feeling. Lots of birds, fishes and insects to watch. Would definitely come back for a longer visit next time and maybe even a nap!

“Garden of water and fragrance” yeah fragrance of the bird poop! In all I would rather go to Huntington Library’s Japanese Garden, theirs has a flow and a beautiful hilly landscape. It seems like they got a plot of land and then said “ok we want to have these 5 things, a bamboo garden, tea house, etc” and then just placed them on a route. It has no authentic feeling. By the landscape it has a vaguely Japanese feel which I guess was why it was used in Star Trek. Huntington library’s Japanese garden= an elegant representation of traditional Japanese culture, great use of vertical space and beautiful views all around. They also have a zen garden and a bonsai tree gallery! This place= has an interesting sci-fi feel but not very elegant

This is a very pleasant place to stroll and enjoy the ducks and herons and coy fish. The water features are clever and picturesque. The sky bridge to overlook the water reclamation plant is unique. I didn't know what was over that fence until walked over that bridge. A nominal entrance fee and easy parking. Restrooms are by the Japanese house inside the garden if you can wait, otherwise there are portables by the parking lot. Bring cash.

I came for the ceremonial Matcha Tea event and I liked it very much. I got to try the tea and a Japanese pastry! Yummy! After the event I walked around the garden. It was so serene and pretty with the tall bamboo stalks. Lake was filled with birds and there were so many of the same striped little fish in the ponds. Small display of bonsai trees and a few Japanese items. This is a great place to clear your mind. 🧘🏼‍♀️☯️

We visited the garden to spend sunday afternoon. Before visiting I had seen pictures and read couple of reviews which wrote highly recommended place to visit. After visiting, my take is1) nicely kept garden... I would not call it a garden as it didn't have any variety of flowers. Saw lotus in the pond.2) not much of Japanese architecture. Tea house is the only building which had some structure, other than that nothing much I noticed. I doubt I missed any other buildings.3) not much shadey trees.. I expected some trees , under we could sit and relax with fresh air...4)the entire garden is using recycled water, hence u can experience some smell.. It didn't trouble me though..I would rate it a 3 and a one time visit if you really want to see..Rates : adult 5$Child :3$Only cash..
