The worst service by Sasha! Lied about product availability. Called, spoke to Sasha who said she went to the shelf and saw 5 items of the product I needed. I was gonna take the bus for an hour & a half each way, 3 hours total, 6 buss just for that 1 product, which I told her. She lied and said they have it in stock, I asked her to make sure, she lied and said yes. Last minute I spoke to the manager, she said they didnt have any in the store & didn't have it for 3 weeks. Because of that horrible incompetent Sasha I was about to waist 3 hours. Good thing I double checked. She shouldn't be working with people!

Feedback:

My experience at Central Co-op upsetting. The atmosphere it was not pleasant. It Felt like, I wasn’t welcome. Coming from a different town. Living in Seattle for about a year. Just going to get some food is becoming a drag. Im made to feel like black people are not welcome. Just to do normal shopping. I think I made a big mistake moving here.

Feedback:

They have a nice selection of organic produce, body care products, and really great bulk bins. It is also nice they have a small garage for parking. They also have a small section with candles and inscense as well as items for gift giving. Some of the folks that work there are helpful and personable, but others not so much. It’s kind of pricey on some items, it’s a good idea to keep up with some really good sales that they have. I would say overall it’s a good place to shop. They do have some nice wines as well. You will have to be savvy when it comes to prices, however.

Feedback:

Central co op led me to believe I would be switching to a position in grocery (from the deli). They knew my availability, and when applying for the grocery position I made that clear once again. They decided they couldn’t fit me into grocery, and no longer had hours in the deli for me. They offered a position in Seattle (which I literally cannot make work with daycare hours) so they wouldn’t have to give me severance. I am absolutely disgusted by the actions of this company, and I don’t intend on being quiet about it. I’m a single mom with no way to pay my rent next month. I will make sure everyone knows not to shop here.

Feedback:

I love, love, love Central Co-op, both because it is a genuinely community-owned and oriented organization, and because of their wonderful selection of products. Unlike corporate "natural" and high-end food options, Central Co-op has a commitment to working with local producers to support sustainable, people-driven agriculture both here in Washington (delicious local peaches!) and abroad (great fair-trade coffee!). I love to cook and make especial use of the bulk sections, fresh produce, and good dairy. The wine selection is also good. Finally, people there are always helpful and it's refreshing to be checked out by someone who doesn't seem like they've had their soul ground to bits by a giant corporation. This place is an asset to our community.

Idealist question #1: How does one actually save the environment when you live in Seattle, WA, USA?Luckily for you all, I was advised by a very earnest college friend of mine, who majored in agricultural revolution, you shop at your local Co-OP. Well Seattleites, PNW-ites. This is our local Co-OP. But what is it really like? Pricey. Any way you cut it, moral penance fees do add up. I shop strategically here for certain very delicious very specific organic products. If I leave the store with one full shopping bag, and less then $50 spent, it's an utter miracle. So just keep that in mind, but shop here. Support local farmers and local agricultural markets and fully enjoy delicious groceries. And yeah, erm, earn your money so you can spend it here.

I love this place. It's a real, deal, Co-op, not a grocery chain disguised as a Co-op. It's small, and very communal. The vibe is very much "we care, that's why we're here. You want to join this party." Despite it's cozy size, they have a great selection of yummy and fun sustainable products, with plenty enough choices. The deli is small, but mighty, with plenty of delicious goodies. My fave is the split pea soup, yums. If you are looking to shop for healthy, Earth friendly goods and actually contribute to societal betterment, Central's got you covered in spades.

Lots of fresh produce and Specialty Items, Good Selection of items in the Bulk Section, Fresh Deli, Seafood, Cheeses, Coffee Bar, daily homemade soups, sandwiches, and other meal items. Grab breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner. Small indoor seating area near Coffee and Deli. Plus several nice covered outdoor tables!Pretty large Natural Body Care and Supplements section.Great location! FREE Parking garage and street parking. If you live on the Hill, walking or biking are good options too! It's definitely worth the trip!

This store is excellent for having friendly, knowledgeable staff, plus an amazing selection of natural, organic, and good variety of plant-based foods & products. I wish they would carry more vegan make-up and was sad when they stopped carrying my favorite organic soy creamer (Wildwood brand), but their produce, coffee, and health & hygiene sections are always top-notch.

Unfortunately, the customer service has gone way downhill. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but the employees seem miserable and 99% have serious snotty attitude problems. Consider yourself lucky if one employee looks you in the eye to see if you need anything during your whole trip. When I go with my kids, we have one or two cashiers we look for who are "the nice ones." Every time we have to check out with someone else they are extremely rude and unfriendly, or they want to tell us things about our groceries but ignore everything you might have to say back. It's not a conversation, it's their own personal monologue and you happened to be standing there. Please take the job of kindness to the public seriously and stop hiring folks who hate other humans, or find a way to decrease workplace stress if these people are really under a lot of pressure in their organic grocery positions.
